As of 11:00 AM on June 21st, the heavy rain continued in many areas of the Viet Bac and northern mountainous regions, causing serious flooding in Thai Nguyen City, Song Cong City, Pho Yen City, and many residential areas along the Cau River and low-lying areas of Thai Nguyen province.

According to the Thai Nguyen Provincial Meteorological and Hydrological Station and the local automatic rain gauge system, the rain has continued from the night of June 20th until noon today. In the last 6 hours, the rainfall has exceeded 100mm, with many areas in Thai Nguyen City alone receiving over 200mm.
Under the influence of a tropical convergence zone combined with a low-pressure vortex, a strong thunderstorm cloud system caused prolonged rainfall from the night of June 20th, overwhelming the drainage system, while rising river levels led to widespread flooding.

In Thai Nguyen City, streets such as Minh Cau, Phan Dinh Phung, Hoang Van Thu, Luong Ngoc Quyen, Cach Mang Thang Tam, Ben Tuong, and the Dan intersection recorded flood levels ranging from 0.2m to over 1m. Traffic was paralyzed, and the daily lives of residents were severely affected.

In the Nong Lam resettlement area, Tan Long ward, and the intersection of Quang Trung and Z115 roads, many vehicles are stranded and require water-based rescue. The water level of the Cau River at the Gia Bay station is rising rapidly and may exceed alarm level II within the next 24 hours.
According to an investigation by a reporter from SGGP newspaper, an emergency occurred in Thai Son 2 hamlet (Quyet Thang commune, Thai Nguyen city) - near Nui Coc lake. A mother and her two children were completely isolated in their three-story house, which was submerged up to the middle of the first-floor staircase. The strong current prevented them from escaping. By 11:00 AM, local authorities had reached and rescued them.

Speaking to a reporter from SGGP newspaper by phone, Ms. Van said that the water rose very quickly, and neighbors tried to rescue them but couldn't open the door. Currently, Ms. Van and her three children have been taken to stay at a house in a less flooded area. Several families in the alley are still flooded, but residents have not yet evacuated.

In Lao Cai province, the Kim Thanh to Bat Xat road has experienced landslides and flooding. In Son province, landslides and flooding of crops also occurred in Tan Tri commune, Bac Son district. At noon on June 21st, National Highway 2 at Km35 (Ham Yen - Tuyen Quang) was deeply flooded, making traffic very difficult.

According to the Thai Nguyen Provincial Electronic Information Portal, the water level of the Cau River at the Gia Bay station is rising rapidly and may exceed Level II alert within the next 24 hours. The water level of Nui Coc Lake in Thai Nguyen City is also continuing to rise. The Thai Nguyen Provincial government has issued a high-risk warning for flooding in low-lying areas, landslides, and flash floods in mountainous areas. Residents are advised to monitor information regularly and proactively take measures to ensure the safety of themselves and their property.
