At the main discussion sessions held on May 27 within the framework of the Vietnam - Asia DX Summit 2025 organized by the Vietnam Software and Information Technology Services Association (VINASA), delegates all agreed that Vietnamese digital technology enterprises are at a "golden" time to break through, master strategic technologies, take advantage of government support policies and exploit the potential digital transformation market, reaching out to the world.

Pioneering force creating the digital future

In the context of strong global digital transformation, Vietnamese digital technology enterprises are gradually affirming their position with the spirit of mastering technology, creating Vietnamese intellectual products and solutions, and constantly innovating to reach out to regional and international markets. With the foundation of young, flexible human resources and the desire for global integration, Vietnamese enterprises are becoming a pioneering force in creating a digital future, making an important contribution to the goal of developing a digital economy accounting for 50% of GDP by 2045 in the spirit of Resolution No. 57 NQ/TW of the Politburo on breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation and national digital transformation.

Accordingly, Vietnamese enterprises choose to develop strategic technology products to promote research and master technologies. Some groups of strategic technologies that are currently being focused on research and development include: artificial intelligence (AI) and data science ; Internet of Things (IoT); 5G, 6G mobile networks; blockchain technology; network security, chips, semiconductors...

Mr. Nguyen Van Khoa, Chairman of the Vietnam Software and Information Technology Services Association, emphasized that from mainly processing, Vietnamese enterprises have been confidently stepping up to a higher level: mastering technology, creating products and solving major problems of the country. As of early 2025, Vietnam had over 54,500 digital technology enterprises. Not only has the number increased, but the capacity of enterprises has also been affirmed. Some large corporations such as Viettel, FPT, VNPT, MISA, One Mount have taken on the task of investing and developing core technology products to solve some major problems of the country.

The aspiration of Vietnamese enterprises to master technology comes at the right time when the domestic digital transformation and technology transformation market is booming, opening up huge development space. According to the Ministry of Science and Technology, the rate of enterprises using digital platforms increased from 30% in 2021 to nearly 70% in 2024, digital government is developing strongly with more than 95% of level 4 public services. The digital economy accounts for about 16.5% of GDP in 2024, aiming for 20% of GDP in 2025. The National Digital Transformation Program and Project 06 on developing applications of population data, identification and electronic authentication have created a revolution in the operations of State agencies.

Sharing about the technology strategy to contribute to promoting breakthrough development in the era of artificial intelligence, Mr. Vu Anh Tu, Chief Technology Officer of FPT Corporation, said that Vietnamese enterprises need to have a technology autonomy strategy, first of all, mastering AI technology. Next is data autonomy, especially in the context of lacking quality data. Therefore, it is necessary to promote comprehensive digital transformation in the healthcare, education, public administration sectors and encourage the sharing of public data sources, serving research and development. Vietnamese enterprises need to be self-sufficient in AI infrastructure to shorten the time to test an idea, opening up great potential in research, development and commercialization of technology.

Vietnam - Asia digital transformation cooperation

Speaking at the Forum, Mr. Stan Singh, Chairman of the Asia-Oceania Computing Industry Organization (ASOCIO), said that Asia-Pacific is currently the leading region for digital economic growth. The region is expected to spend more than 1,000 billion USD on digital transformation in 2025. Countries in the region are prioritizing a number of key technologies to promote economic growth and digital transformation. The first is AI technology. Vietnam has applied AI in healthcare (cancer detection) and public services. In Thailand, 70% of government queries are handled by AI chatbots, improving the efficiency of public services. In Malaysia, AI is applied to support predictive maintenance, reducing downtime in production. South Korea and Taiwan (China) focus on applying AI in semiconductor and high-tech manufacturing.

Several countries and territories in Asia have invested in developing green and smart technology. Typically, Taiwan (China) combines AI and IoT in smart manufacturing to optimize processes and reduce environmental impact. Other economies in ASOCIO promote green technology as a sustainable development strategy. Along with that, 5G technology and network infrastructure are developing rapidly in many Asian countries, of which Vietnam has invested heavily in 5G to promote digital transformation in industry.

With more than 1,000 technology enterprises providing digital services to most of the world's leading economies such as the US, Japan, Europe, South Korea, etc., generating billions of dollars in revenue each year, delegates assessed Vietnam as one of the global digital service centers. International delegates proposed specific cooperation initiatives to promote breakthrough growth in digital transformation in Vietnam.

According to Mr. Junya Kawamoto, Chairman of the International Cooperation Committee of the Japan Information Technology Association (JISA), Japan has great demand and wishes to cooperate with Vietnamese technology enterprises to develop AI applications in healthcare, education and production.

Mr. Stan Singh, Chairman of ASOCIO, said that the economies of the Asia-Pacific region consider green technology an important cooperation trend. Vietnamese digital technology enterprises need to grasp and master this trend to expand cooperation in the future.

Meanwhile, Ms. Ivy Chang, Deputy Secretary General of the Taiwan Information Technology Service Association (China), said that Taiwan can share experience and technology to help Vietnam deploy 5G more effectively, cooperate in research, development and transfer of semiconductor technology; at the same time, it needs to cooperate with Vietnam to develop AI applications in healthcare, education and green, smart manufacturing.

To promote the region's overall growth, delegates agreed that Asian economies and technology businesses should focus on researching new technologies such as quantum computing, 6G and advanced AI applications in healthcare, manufacturing and finance; establish cross-border talent exchange programs; share infrastructure and resources to develop data centers, cloud services and common AI platforms; cooperate to harmonize regulations and standards, and facilitate cross-border cooperation.

* Within the framework of the Vietnam - Asia Digital Transformation Summit 2025 (May 27-28), a Digital Technology Exhibition took place. Nearly 40 booths of domestic and international digital technology enterprises participated in direct and online exhibitions at the exhibition; including leading technology enterprises in Vietnam such as: Viettel SoftWare, Misa Joint Stock Company, OSBC - the leading company in Korea in open source management of licenses and security vulnerabilities. Along with introducing products, services, and technology solutions to the business community, the exhibition is an opportunity for effective meetings and exchanges between enterprises and the State, between domestic enterprises and international partners in the fields of e-commerce and digital technology.
