Apple said on May 29 that it is expanding skills-building and training programs for employees in its supply chain in Vietnam.

Accordingly, this year, Apple plans to deploy more than 45 technical training courses for employees at many large manufacturing facilities in Vietnam.

Smart manufacturing, automation and programming training courses will be held at Foxconn, Lens, BYD, Goertek, Innovation and Yuto, suppliers currently responsible for final product assembly and component production for iPads, Macs, AirPods and Apple Watches in Vietnam.

The new technical courses will nearly double the number ofeducational opportunities available to employees at its suppliers in Vietnam, Apple said, adding that it has been working closely with suppliers to provide skills-building, leadership development, and wellness education to their teams since 2017.

This includes health and wellbeing training for production team leaders in Vietnam, in partnership with leading health and education organisations. The wellness programmes have reached more than 5.8 million supplier employees globally since 2017.

Notably, Apple also said it will expand its vocational education program for people with disabilities in Vietnam this year, starting with three domestic suppliers.

With more than 18,000 supplier employees benefiting from the program to date, the program partners with suppliers to provide employment and career development opportunities across Apple’s supply chain for people with disabilities, while improving safety, accessibility, and inclusion practices at supplier facilities.

Apple pledges to support global supply chain workforce

“The spirit of innovation in product manufacturing also guides our commitment to supporting human resources in the global supply chain,” said Sabih Khan, Apple’s senior vice president of operations.

We are delighted to expand our technical training courses to more suppliers in Vietnam, helping their employees learn new skills in advanced fields and develop stronger careers.”
