On the morning of September 18, the Vietnam Peacekeeping Department ( Ministry of National Defense ) held an incense offering ceremony at the Monument to Heroes and Martyrs (Bac Son Street, Hanoi) and visited President Ho Chi Minh's Mausoleum, launched a competition and pledged determination to Uncle Ho by the Engineering Team No. 3 and Level 2 Field Hospital No. 6, preparing to depart for the UNISFA mission (Abyei region) and UNMISS (South Sudan) to participate in United Nations peacekeeping operations.
Building on the achievements over the past 10 years, all preparations for the No. 3 Engineering Team and the No. 6 Level 2 Field Hospital have now been basically completed. The officers and staff of the two units are at ease in their work, ready to set off to carry out the noble mission of United Nations peacekeeping.
In the solemn and emotional atmosphere of the ceremony held in front of President Ho Chi Minh's Mausoleum, on behalf of the Vietnam Peacekeeping Department, Major General Pham Manh Thang, Director of the Vietnam Peacekeeping Department, launched the emulation movement with the theme "Solidarity, exemplary, discipline, proactiveness, creativity, determination to win," with the guiding ideology: Maintain solidarity, be exemplary, strengthen discipline, be proactive, innovative, and excellently complete tasks.
With the implementation period from September 18, 2024 to October 1, 2025, the movement sets out a number of specific emulation targets such as: actively studying and practicing to improve comprehensive knowledge; promoting the spirit of internal solidarity, military-civilian solidarity, international solidarity, excellently completing assigned tasks, ensuring absolute safety during the implementation of tasks.
Strictly comply with the laws of the State, military discipline; the United Nations code of conduct, regulations of the mission and the laws of the host country; understand the customs, practices, religions and beliefs of local people and international friends and colleagues to behave civilly during work at the mission.
Be proactive and creative to continue to do a good job of propaganda and strongly promote the good traditional cultural values of the country, Vietnamese people and the noble qualities of "Uncle Ho's Soldiers" in the new era to international friends...
Major General Pham Manh Thang affirmed that the successful completion of the working term of officers and soldiers of Engineering Team No. 3 and Level 2 Field Hospital No. 6 has great political significance, directly contributing to consolidating and enhancing the position and prestige of Vietnam and the Vietnam People's Army in the international arena; making practical contributions to the cause of building and firmly protecting the Fatherland early, from afar, right from peacetime and by peaceful means.
"Before the spirit of Uncle Ho, the Party Committee, the Command Board of the Department and all officers, employees and soldiers of the Vietnam Peacekeeping Department always strongly believe that, with their steadfastness, youthfulness and absolute loyalty to the Party, the Fatherland and the people; the collective of officers and employees of Engineering Team No. 3 and Level 2 Field Hospital No. 6 will always be united, creative, and overcome difficulties to excellently complete all assigned tasks, ensuring absolute safety," Major General Pham Manh Thang emphasized.
On behalf of the soldiers preparing to depart for the United Nations peacekeeping mission, representatives of the 3rd Engineer Team and the 6th Level 2 Field Hospital promised Uncle Ho that they would always maintain their political steadfastness; maintain internal solidarity, military-civilian solidarity, and international solidarity; regularly do a good job of propagating the guidelines, lines, and foreign policies of our Party and State; through practical actions, contribute to spreading the good qualities of "Uncle Ho's Soldiers," ensuring the successful and excellent completion of the tasks assigned by the Ministry of National Defense and the United Nations.
According to the plan, the 3rd Engineering Team with 180 soldiers is expected to depart for the UNISFA mission (Abyei area) on September 24 by a chartered flight from Noi Bai airport. The goods and accompanying equipment will be transported in the fourth quarter of 2024 and arrive in the first quarter of 2025 (transportation time is about 120 days).
On the same day, 63 soldiers from Level 2 Field Hospital No. 6 will also depart for the UNMISS mission (South Sudan) from Noi Bai airport by C-17 aircraft sponsored by Australia.
Goods and accompanying equipment will be transported by air with the Hospital's personnel on C-17 aircraft and by sea (transported in the fourth quarter of 2024, transportation time to the mission is about 90 days)./.
