The seminar was organized by the Central Propaganda and Education Commission in coordination with the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee with the theme "Fundamental and comprehensive innovation of political theory programs and textbooks to meet the requirements of improving the quality and effectiveness of education work in the new situation".
The program is co-chaired by the Central Propaganda and Education Commission, the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee and the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences .
Prof. Dr. Le Van Loi - President of the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences - said that the current world context is changing rapidly and complicatedly with conflicts, strategic competition, unpredictable climate change and epidemics.
Along with that, the profound impact of the fourth industrial revolution makes the need for innovation in political theory education urgent.
He emphasized that after nearly 40 years of renovation, the country has undergone many strong changes. Strategic decisions on organizational structure, innovation, digital transformation, international integration, education development and legal improvement are creating new momentum for development.
In order for political theory to become a solid ideological foundation and capable of leading development, according to him, it is necessary to comprehensively innovate political theory activities, especially at the university level. Because this is where high-quality human resources and young intellectuals with courage, capacity and aspiration to contribute are trained.
In the draft documents of the upcoming 14th National Congress, for the first time the Party affirmed that the theory of the Party's innovation policy is one of three components of the Party's ideological foundation, along with Marxism-Leninism and Ho Chi Minh Thought.
This poses new requirements for political theory education. While from teaching practice, Mr. Loi said that the content is still theoretical and not linked to practice. Not to mention that the teaching method has not yet maximized the capacity of learners and the digital capacity of a part of lecturers needs to continue to be nurtured and improved.
The seminar had many experts from universities and colleges discuss and propose a number of synchronous and breakthrough solutions in innovating programs, textbooks and teaching methods of political theory.
The focus is on clarifying the theoretical and practical basis, the core principles of innovation, identifying the parts that need to be streamlined, updated or redesigned to suit the specific characteristics of the field of study. At the same time, exchanging models of innovative teaching and assessment methods to promote critical thinking, self-study and initiative of students.
In addition to the session for universities today, November 25, the Southern Regional Forum will also have a session for colleges tomorrow, November 26.
