Coach Nguyen Dinh Hoang said after the match: "Although we are very sad because we could not win, the coaching staff is still proud because the players fought until the last seconds against a top team in the continent."

“We appreciate the efforts of the entire team. You have given your best. Although the result was not favorable, we will look forward to longer-term goals in the future. The coaching staff will definitely work again to improve the team,” he added.

According to coach Nguyen Dinh Hoang, Japan is a very strong opponent with many quality players. Although Vietnam had good control of the match at times, a few lack of concentration situations caused the team to concede goals.

“I feel a little regretful about the two goals we conceded today. We did well at many times, but just a small mistake against an opponent like Japan will cost us,” he said. Evaluating the team’s journey in the tournament, coach Nguyen Dinh Hoang said: “Getting through the group stage with 7 points and finishing first in the group is a very encouraging result. However, meeting Japan in the quarter-finals is a big challenge.” Immediately after the tournament, the Vietnamese women’s futsal team will begin preparations for the next goal – the 33rd SEA Games at the end of the year. “We will quickly return to training to have the best force for the upcoming tournament,” coach Nguyen Dinh Hoang emphasized.

In the two times the Asian women's futsal tournament was held, the Japanese women's futsal team finished as runners-up (losing to Iran in the final). On the FIFA rankings, the women's team of the cherry blossom country is currently ranked 10th, and ranked 3rd in Asia (after Thailand and Iran, respectively). Meanwhile, the Vietnamese women's futsal team is ranked 11th in the world and 4th in the continent. The last time the two teams met was when the Vietnamese women's futsal team went to Japan for training at the end of April, in preparation for the 2025 Asian women's futsal tournament. In this match, coach Nguyen Dinh Hoang and his team lost 1-4.
