Previously, the lives of people in the communes of Nam Ke, Muong Toong, and Muong Nhe were tied to corn and rice fields, with jobs dependent on the weather and unstable incomes. However, over the past ten years, since rubber trees took root in the westernmost part of the country, people's lives have improved significantly.
In the context of the strong implementation of the rubber tree development program in the Northwest region, in August 2013, Muong Nhe Rubber Joint Stock Company was established. After more than 12 years of construction and development, the Company has now entered a stable exploitation phase, with a total rubber area put into exploitation of more than 1,170 hectares.
From the beginning of the year to September, the company's latex output reached 499.6 tons. Since the rubber trees began to produce latex, households that contributed land have been given profits, and hundreds of local workers, especially ethnic minorities in the area, have had jobs and stable incomes. The company currently has nearly 250 staff and workers, including 236 direct workers, most of whom are Mong, Thai, Ha Nhi, and Kho Mu ethnic groups living in the communes of Muong Nhe, Muong Toong, and Nam Ke.
Previously, the life of Mr. Chang A Chanh's family, a resident of Muong Toong 1 village (Muong Toong commune) was very unstable. Mr. Chanh often worked as a seasonal worker, and was unemployed after the harvest, so he could not avoid the situation of "some days hungry, some days full". Since being accepted to work at Muong Nhe Rubber Joint Stock Company, his family's life has gradually stabilized with an average income of 10 million VND/month.
“In the past, my family only hoped to have enough to eat all year round. When I was hired as a rubber tapping worker, I had a new job. Now I have a steady salary every month, an average of about 10 million VND, I can also repair the house and take care of my children's education,” Mr. Chanh happily shared.
Since working as a worker at Muong Nhe Rubber Joint Stock Company, Mr. Vang A Tang (Muong Nhe commune) has had a stable income of more than 8 million VND per month. Mr. Tang shared: “Since joining the company, I have been trained in a professional manner and given dedicated guidance. The work is not too hard, so I still have more time to help my wife with farming and raising children.”
To achieve the results as today, Muong Nhe Rubber Joint Stock Company always determines the quality of human resources as the decisive factor. With the motto "hand-holding" and "learning goes hand in hand with practice", vocational training is always focused on. Up to now, the Company has organized training and created jobs for nearly 240 local workers, most of whom are ethnic minorities.
In addition to vocational training, Muong Nhe Rubber Joint Stock Company creates conditions for workers to stay long-term, enjoy full benefits, policies, social insurance and emulation rewards. In recent years, along with improving the lives of workers, the Company has focused on ensuring the rights of households contributing land to grow rubber.

According to statistics, the area of land contributed to the product in 2025 is 1,420.55 hectares, with a payment value of 4.014 billion VND, an average of 2.825 million VND/ha. The payment is made transparently, in cash in the villages of the commune: Muong Nhe, Muong Toong and Nam Ke, bringing a significant source of income, helping many households have more capital to develop the economy and improve their lives.
Mr. Dao Van Cuong's family in Nam Ke commune was one of the first households to contribute land to grow rubber. In the early years, Mr. Cuong and many other households were worried because rubber trees take a long time to grow and care for before they can be harvested. However, recently, when he received 56 million VND in product sharing money, Mr. Cuong excitedly said: "When we planted rubber, many people were skeptical, but now that we have income, everyone is excited. I believe that rubber trees will bring a stable income to our people."
In addition to contributing to improving income, rubber trees bring about a clear change in the spiritual life of people in the highlands. In many villages, solid houses are springing up more and more, children are going to school more fully, many young people no longer have to leave their hometown to work far away. However, the development path of "white gold" in the border area of Muong Nhe is not always favorable.
Mr. Nguyen Huu Toan, General Director of Muong Nhe Rubber Joint Stock Company, said: In early 2025, the weather was very complicated, with heavy rains and storms lasting from April to August, causing landslides on many road blocks and inter-blocks, making it difficult to exploit and transport latex. In that situation, the company proactively overcame landslides, organized propaganda and recruited workers right in the villages; promptly grasped the thoughts and aspirations of workers, provided material and spiritual support so that workers could feel secure in their commitment. The Company's Trade Union regularly coordinated with local authorities to organize activities to care for the spiritual life of workers, such as "union meals to thank workers", emulation and reward programs, and encouraged workers to overcome difficulties and work enthusiastically.
“We always consider workers as the center of sustainable development. Each drop of latex collected is not only the result of nature, but also the effort and sweat of the workers here,” Mr. Toan affirmed.

Looking back over the past 12 years, it can be seen that the presence of rubber trees has opened up a new direction for the socio-economic development of the communes: Muong Nhe, Muong Toong and Nam Ke. From a place where people only depended on farming, they now have stable jobs and guaranteed income, contributing to the sustainable poverty reduction of the locality. Rubber trees bring "white gold" and change the lives of hundreds of ethnic minority households in the far west of the country.
