The Timor Leste Football Federation has decided to give away free tickets to fans to watch the match against Thailand at 8pm on December 8 at Hang Day Stadium. Due to not having a home stadium that meets the competition conditions, Timor Leste has chosen Vietnam as the official competition venue.
Initially, they wanted to play in Viet Tri ( Phu Tho ) but the Vietnamese team also played there. If both teams played, there would be times when the organization could not meet FIFA's requirements. Timor Leste then chose Hang Day as their home stadium for this year's tournament. In addition to this match, Timor Leste will face Singapore also at Hang Day. They will play away against Malaysia and Cambodia.

Speaking at a press conference before the match, Timor Leste head coach Simon Ellechette said: " The VFF gave us the opportunity to choose a stadium in Vietnam. Since we arrived here, everyone has been friendly and supportive of the team. We hope to continue to receive support in Timor Leste's matches and have the feeling of playing at our home stadium ."
On the afternoon of December 7, the Timor Leste team announced the list of 26 players participating in the AFF Cup 2024. Luis Figo - a young talent with the same name as the striker of the Portuguese team is also participating in the tournament. Timor Leste is considered the weakest team in the AFF Cup 2024 and they hope to receive a lot of support from Vietnamese fans.
Meanwhile, the Thai team - Timor Leste's opening match opponent - is a candidate for the championship. However, the team from the land of the golden pagodas is cautious.
Coach Ishii Masatada said: " As the defending champions, we have the pressure to defend the title. However, I focus on what I can do. This is not only about the championship but also the future of Thai football. After the World Cup qualifiers, we know that this is the time for us to look for a new generation for the Thai national team ."
