The Vietnamese women's team will end their historic journey at the 2023 Women's World Cup with a match against the current runner-up Netherlands in the final round of Group E. Speaking at a press conference before the match, coach Mai Duc Chung shared: “After 10 months, I returned to Dunedin. This is a beautiful, peaceful city. The Vietnamese women's team knows that we no longer have a chance to continue. But we did not give up because of that. The team had a meeting to learn from experience, promising each other to do our best in the match against the Netherlands. I know that the opponent is also competing for the score with the US women's team, with the hope of winning the top spot in the group. Surely, Vietnam will have difficulty against this highly determined opponent."

Like the US and Portugal, the Dutch women's team (currently ranked 9th in the world ) is rated much higher than Vietnam and is determined to win big to take the top spot. Therefore, scoring a goal against the opponent is not easy. At the press conference, coach Mai Duc Chung revealed the personnel situation and revealed a little about the tactical calculations of the Vietnamese women's team when facing the Dutch women's team. "Depending on the situation on the field, the Vietnamese women's team will arrange the personnel accordingly. Whoever is ready and has good physical strength, we will prioritize. The Vietnamese women's team has a number of older players such as Thuy Nga and Thuy Trang. But it must be said that in high-level matches at the World Cup, older players will have difficulty if they are not strong enough to play. Therefore, the coaching staff must calculate and arrange appropriately," the 73-year-old coach shared.

Sharing about the playing style, Coach Mai Duc Chung said: “We have to play defensively. If we play in a 5-5-5 style, focusing on attack, we will encounter many difficulties. Like in the match against Portugal, the team played too aggressively, focusing on attack, leading to gaps in defense. I also told the players that the Dutch women's team will be determined to score many goals against the Vietnamese women's team. Therefore, we need to play solidly, focusing more on defense.”

The captain hopes that the whole team will play well for the Vietnamese fans. "I encouraged the whole team that we should not only play for myself but also for the fans across the country, for the overseas Vietnamese who have come from many places in Australia and New Zealand to cheer for the home team. I hope the players will try their best. Whether they win or lose, the important thing is that you maintain the spirit and momentum of the Vietnamese women's team," coach Mai Duc Chung shared.

According to the match schedule, the Vietnamese women's team will meet the Dutch women's team at 2:00 p.m. on August 1 ( Hanoi time) at Forsyth Barr Stadium. This match no longer has much meaning but will be the last chance for coach Mai Duc Chung and his team to achieve a new milestone in the history of national football./.
