Vietnam women's team firmly in top 1 in the region, behind 5 Asian 'big sisters'

According to the FIFA rankings for women's football announced on June 12, 2025, the Vietnamese women's team continues to maintain its 37th position in the world, 6th in Asia and 1st in Southeast Asia.

Vietnam women's team top 37 in the world

In Asia, the Vietnamese women's team ranked behind Japan, South Korea, Australia, China and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea; and continued to hold the No. 1 position in Southeast Asia, above opponents such as Thailand, the Philippines and Myanmar. The team ranked 37th in the FIFA world rankings.

This position helps the Vietnamese women's team maintain its advantage in upcoming international tournaments, while affirming the stable presence of Vietnamese women's football in the continental arena.

The Vietnamese women's team is training in Osaka (Japan) to prepare for the 2026 Asian Women's Football Championship qualifiers, which will take place in Phu Tho from June 29. During the training trip, the team played three friendly matches: on June 11, they won against Iga Kunoichi Mie FC with a score of 3-2; on June 13, they won against Tezukayama Gakuin University 3-1; and will continue to compete against Osaka University of Sports and Health Sciences on June 15.

The top 5 women's teams in the world in June 2025 include: The US continues to hold the top spot with stable performance; Spain - the reigning world champion - maintains the second position; Germany is in third place after a series of successful friendly matches; Brazil rises 4 places to return to the top 4 for the first time since 2013; England falls 1 place, ranked in fifth place.

Notably, Brazil has made strong progress with an impressive streak of recent matches. Colombia also entered the world's top 20 for the first time at 18th place. Paraguay (45th) and Venezuela (48th) have set new all-time highs in the FIFA Women's Rankings.

The next FIFA rankings will be published on August 6, 2025.
