In March, in Son Thanh commune (Na Ri), the Bac Kan Provincial Culture and Information Center coordinated with the Commune People's Committee to launch a grassroots propaganda art troupe, with 12 members who are talented singers and have expressive voices from villages and hamlets of Son Thanh commune. The team was established after 7 days of intensive training (from March 7-13). During this time, the members were not only instructed on editing propaganda newsletters and developing propaganda art programs, but also advised the Commune People's Committee to issue a decision to establish the team and specific operating regulations. This is a model with a clear organization and long-term direction, different from the spontaneous art activities commonly seen in localities.
The launch of the Son Thanh Commune Propaganda and Artistic Team is not only a highlight in the series of cultural activities in the locality but also demonstrates the government's initiative in promoting the internal strength of the community. The art team will be the core force in conveying the Party's policies and the State's laws to the people through the form of performing arts that are familiar, easy to remember and easy to understand. Radio news, Then singing, folk dances, short plays, etc., when performed in the local language and with traditional music , will create a much stronger spreading effect than one-way propaganda.

Ms. Nong Thi Dung, Son Thanh commune, Na Ri district shared: We are very happy to go see the grassroots propaganda art troupe perform and propagate. The songs and then verses performed by the local people are both familiar and easy to understand. Once you listen, you will remember and understand the new policies and guidelines. I find this a very effective way of propaganda.
The grassroots propaganda art troupe is the “extended arm” of communication work in remote areas where access to information is limited. At the same time, the model is also a healthy cultural living environment, helping people to become more connected, together preserving and promoting traditional cultural identity.
In 2024, the Provincial Center for Culture and Information supported the establishment of 6 grassroots propaganda art teams. In addition, implementing the National Target Program, it completed the construction of 3 Then singing - Tinh lute clubs and supported the activities of 12 traditional art teams in communes. These results are a solid foundation for the province to continue to improve the effectiveness of propaganda work through art forms at the grassroots level.
In the context of rapidly developing technology and media, the model of grassroots propaganda art troupes with a traditional approach but rich in identity, close to the people, has proven its own vitality. When each village singer sings praises of the homeland, reminds of civic responsibility or spreads the spirit of solidarity, it is not only a song but also a cultural transformation into real life.
Replicating this model in Bac Kan promises to create a flexible, effective and sustainable propaganda network – where culture is not only a product of enjoyment but also a tool to convey information, knowledge, and arouse community spirit. This is the necessary direction to bring culture to truly “light the way for the nation” right from the grassroots./.
