During the flood release process, localities in the region closely monitored and promptly handled any incidents that arose, ensuring the safety of dikes in the sub-regional production areas. The Department of Agriculture and Environment of An Giang province announced that, to date, localities in the Long Xuyen Quadrangle still have approximately 91.7 hectares of rice and other crops yet to be harvested. In addition, farmers have planted 198,673 hectares out of 261,500 hectares of rice for the 2025 autumn-winter crop.
According to the An Giang Provincial Meteorological and Hydrological Station's forecast, due to the significant impact of upstream Mekong River flooding, in the first week of September 2025, water levels in the upstream areas of the Mekong Delta at Tan Chau, Khanh An, and Chau Doc rose rapidly. Water levels measured at upstream stations on September 11th were as follows: on the Tien River at Tan Chau, floodwaters reached 3.34m, nearly 1m higher than the same period in 2024; on the Hau River at Chau Doc, floodwaters reached 2.96m, 0.6m higher than the same period in 2024. At the Tha La and Tra Su sluice gates in the upstream area, water levels measured on September 11th reached 2.36m and 2.45m respectively, 1.58m to 1.67m higher than downstream.
In the coming days, the highest water levels in the upstream of the Mekong River, the downstream area, and the inland area of the Long Xuyen Quadrangle will be about 0.65-1.1m higher than the same period in 2024, and approximately 10-35cm lower than the average for the same period in previous years.
