Causes of deep decline

According to statistics from the Provincial Traffic Safety Committee, in the first 3 months of 2025, the whole province had 56 traffic accidents, killing 22 people and injuring 50 people. Compared to the same period in 2024, traffic accidents decreased by 68 cases (down 54.83%), 27 deaths (down 55.10%), and 55 injuries (down 52.38%).

Chief of Office of Provincial Traffic Safety Committee - Mr. Phan Duc Tien said that the sharp decrease in traffic accidents in all 3 criteria is due to the Provincial People's Committee and Provincial Traffic Safety Committee's attention, drastic direction, and regular implementation of work to ensure traffic order and safety.

Departments, branches and localities have seriously implemented the direction of the Government, the Prime Minister , the National Traffic Safety Committee and the Provincial People's Committee. Transportation activities during the Lunar New Year were well organized, there was no shortage of vehicles to serve the people; there was no record of overcrowding, carrying more people than the prescribed number or collecting fares beyond the prescribed regulations.

Patrolling, controlling and handling violations are regularly and continuously enhanced. Special campaigns to check alcohol concentration, speed, handle violations through the camera surveillance system or organize peak campaigns to ensure traffic safety bring high efficiency. In the first 3 months of 2025 alone, the traffic police force in the whole province inspected and detected 6,312 cases of traffic safety violations.

Propaganda, dissemination andeducation activities on traffic safety laws are implemented synchronously by all levels, sectors and localities, contributing to raising awareness and voluntary compliance with the law among people when participating in traffic.

Typically, the Provincial Traffic Safety Committee Office coordinated with the Provincial Women's Union to organize 10 communication sessions for more than 1,000 members in localities; supported the distribution of 260 helmets and 700 propaganda handbooks. The Provincial Farmers' Union organized 780 communication sessions, repaired and maintained 22km of roads...

Besides, investment, maintenance and repair of traffic infrastructure continue to be focused on, contributing to ensuring safe and smooth traffic.

In the first quarter of 2025, transportation activities will basically meet people's travel and freight needs, especially during the peak period of the Lunar New Year and the spring festival in 2025. The authorities will also strengthen supervision and strictly handle passenger transport vehicles through journey monitoring devices.

Strengthen inspection and supervision

Besides the achieved results, a limitation that continues to be mentioned is the weak awareness of law compliance of a part of traffic participants.

Therefore, violations of road traffic safety regulations are still common, especially speeding, alcohol violations, driving in the wrong lane, stopping and parking in the wrong place, not wearing helmets, driving without a driver's license or professional certificate. Road and railway safety corridors continue to be violated.

Railway and inland waterway traffic accidents recurred; of which one railway accident resulted in one death. One inland waterway accident occurred, which did not result in a loss of life but caused property damage.

The worrying thing now is that at a time when there are no more district-level traffic police, the provincial traffic police are having to disperse their forces on national and provincial highways passing through the province (except for the Da Nang - Quang Ngai expressway), making it impossible to maintain regular, continuous and closed patrols. Therefore, traffic safety violations, especially dangerous ones, are recurring.

Meanwhile, the authority to enforce the public duties of the provincial traffic inspection force (now the Department of Construction Inspectorate) in patrolling, controlling, and handling traffic safety violations on the road is no longer the same as before, making the task of the traffic police more difficult.

To continue to control and reduce traffic accidents in the coming time, the Provincial Traffic Safety Committee has requested the Provincial Police to mobilize maximum forces and means to further strengthen patrol and control work; effectively put into use technical equipment of the traffic police to improve the results of detecting and handling violations. Thoroughly educate officers and soldiers to improve their responsibility, strictly implement legal regulations, work procedures, maintain proper manners and behavior when interacting with the people.

The Department of Construction coordinates with localities to review and strengthen traffic safety at locations near schools; strengthen inspection and supervision of business management and business conditions of road and inland waterway transport.

The Department of Education and Training continues to direct units and schools to propagate and educate students to comply with traffic safety laws... Unions and socio-political organizations actively propagate and mobilize people, union members and association members to set an example in complying with traffic safety regulations; promote the strength of the entire political system to control and minimize accidents, combat traffic congestion and environmental pollution; consolidate and maintain the activities of campaigns and models that have been effective in recent times...
