In recent years, the situation of weak electricity has frequently occurred in hamlets: Kim Lan, Dong Bong, Tan Thuy, Yen Thuy 1... of Yen Lac commune (Phu Luong), affecting production and people's lives. Although people have repeatedly expressed their opinions at voter meetings, up to now, the above situation has not been completely resolved.
Kim Lan is a hamlet where 100% of households develop their economy from tea trees. Recently, some households have boldly invested in tea roasting and rolling machines for home processing. However, the electricity is too weak, causing the above machines to be almost "shelved". Ms. Tran Thi Hoan, a resident in the hamlet, said: My family grows 3,600m2 of tea. In 2024, I bought 2 roasting iron sheets, 6 tea rolling machines, voltage stabilizers... to facilitate tea processing. But the electricity is too weak, the above machines in my family cannot be used and are left unused. As a last resort, I had to sell fresh tea to traders, and I accept whatever price they offer.
Not only in Kim Lan hamlet, many households in other hamlets in Yen Lac commune are also in the same situation of having to "live with" weak electricity. People's daily life is affected when they have to arrange their time, cook rice from mid-morning or mid-afternoon because if they cook during peak hours, the rice cannot boil and cook; water pumps must be "watched" to pump at night; during peak hours, one can "count" the rotating fan blades...
Graphics: Mr. Ninh Van The, Secretary of Kim Lan Hamlet Party Cell: The weak electricity situation has existed for decades, greatly affecting the lives and production of 143 households in the hamlet. We hope that the relevant authorities will pay attention and soon fix the weak electricity situation so that people can live and produce with peace of mind.
We learned that in 2010, Yen Lac commune received attention from the State, implementing the Rural Energy Project, building a synchronous power grid system throughout the commune. The medium voltage grid and transformer station system were handed over to the electricity industry for management. The 0.4kV low voltage grid was handed over to Thuy Tien Thanh Industrial and Commercial Cooperative (Thuy Tien Thanh Cooperative) for management. The cooperative buys electricity from the electricity company after the transformer station and retails electricity to the people at the price regulated by the State. After 15 years of use, up to now, the people's demand for electricity has increased, especially during peak hours, causing unstable voltage, resulting in weak electricity.
Discussing the above issue with Mr. Nguyen Van Vuong, Director of Phu Luong Electricity, he said: Currently, the unit is directly managing and operating the medium voltage line and 12 transformer stations, with a total capacity of nearly 3,200kVA in Yen Lac commune. Through surveys and inspections, the voltage at the stations always reaches 230-240kV at all times. In 2024, Thai Nguyen Electricity Company will invest in an additional 320kVA transformer station in Na Mu hamlet to prevent overloading of fully loaded stations. At the same time, Thuy Tien Thanh Cooperative also invested in 2 transformer stations in Lang Lon and Dau hamlets. However, the situation of low power quality still occurs.
In fact, the low-voltage lines in some areas are over 2km long, the cross-section of the conductors has not been upgraded appropriately; the single-phase branch lines are long, the wires have small cross-sections, leading to phase deviation and local conductor overload. In addition, some households are far away, the low-voltage lines have not been developed; the wires after the meter to the households' houses have small cross-sections, causing large voltage drops... are the reasons why the voltage quality is not guaranteed. According to Mr. Vuong, Thuy Tien Thanh Cooperative is the unit that directly signs the electricity sale contract for households, so it must be responsible for investing, repairing, upgrading and renovating the low-voltage lines, ensuring the supply of electricity to households with the quality according to the contract.
In the coming time, to stabilize the power source, ensuring the daily life and production of the people, Phu Luong Power Company has reported to Thai Nguyen Power Company to continue repairing and upgrading the medium voltage grid of Highway 372-E6.6, meeting the load requirements, improving stability, and supplying electricity to Phu Luong district in general and Yen Lac commune in particular. At the same time, gradually arranging appropriate investment capital to expand the regional power grid. Regarding the 0.4kV low voltage line, Phu Luong Power Company also requested Thuy Tien Thanh Cooperative to manage and operate to ensure the allowable phase deviation (phase deviation ≤ 15%); install low voltage grid compensation capacitors to improve voltage quality. In addition, it is necessary to strengthen regular repair work; replace cable clamps at wire joints... to ensure good contact; continue to invest in more transformer stations; carry out major repairs to meet the requirements of annual load growth...
At the meeting between Phu Luong Power Company, Yen Lac Commune People's Committee and Thuy Tien Thanh Cooperative on May 8, Phu Luong Power Company's leaders informed that they would report to Thai Nguyen Power Company on the current power supply situation in Kim Lan and Dong Bong hamlets, and at the same time make a list and propose to build additional substations in the above two hamlets, and submit it to Thai Nguyen Power Company for consideration and investment approval. Thuy Tien Thanh Cooperative will allocate capital to invest in building additional new low-voltage lines, replacing existing lines with larger cross-section wires. Yen Lac Commune People's Committee also committed to carrying out site clearance if power projects are invested in the area.
The desire of the people of Yen Lac commune to use a stable power source is completely legitimate. The electricity sector and related parties need to coordinate and promptly handle the above situation so that people can feel secure in their daily life and production.
