The Ambassador emphasized that Vietnam attaches importance to developing relations with New Zealand, one of the important Comprehensive Strategic Partners in the region.

According to Ambassador Phan Minh Giang, over the past 50 years, the Vietnam - New Zealand relationship has been continuously nurtured, consolidated and increasingly developed, achieving many important results. However, the potential for cooperation between the two countries is still very large, with many areas and advantages that need to be fully exploited and utilized more effectively. Therefore, the two countries need to continue to consolidate and deepen traditional areas of cooperation, improve the effectiveness of bilateral cooperation mechanisms, as well as increase delegation exchanges and contacts at high and all levels through channels.

According to the Ambassador, along with promoting political relations and more substantial defense and security cooperation, Vietnam and New Zealand need to closely connect two highly complementary economies , which are also members of many important FTAs in the region, and promote more effective trade and investment cooperation towards the target of a bilateral turnover of 3 billion USD by 2026. At the same time, education, training and development of high-quality human resources need to continue to be an important pillar in bilateral cooperation.

With a strong commitment to climate change response, Vietnam and New Zealand need to promote the application of science and technology, digital transformation, providing solutions in environmental protection, emission reduction, green transformation, high-tech agriculture , renewable energy, carbon markets, in accordance with the potential and strengths, meeting the needs of each country.

Ambassador Phan Minh Giang expressed his belief that opening more flights connecting the two countries will actively contribute to the above efforts, facilitating the promotion of economic, trade, investment, cultural, educational, people-to-people and tourism cooperation, connecting Vietnam and New Zealand more closely.

The Ambassador said that in the context of continuing profound changes in the international and regional situation, Vietnam and New Zealand need to strengthen coordination and support each other more strongly at multilateral forums, including relevant mechanisms chaired by ASEAN, the United Nations and other forums.

Ambassador Phan Minh Giang added that the Vietnamese community in New Zealand is an inseparable part, an important and indispensable bridge, connecting the community and generations of Vietnamese people in New Zealand, preserving and promoting national cultural identity, actively contributing to promoting relations between the two countries, cultivating friendship, cooperation and mutual understanding between the people of Vietnam and New Zealand. Overseas Vietnamese in New Zealand, including many intellectuals, experts, scientists, and overseas Vietnamese businesses, carry in their hearts a passionate love for their homeland and country and a desire to contribute to the development of the country. Vietnamese associations regularly organize many cultural activities, contributing to preserving national cultural identity, connecting the community, and looking back to their roots and homeland.

Ambassador Phan Minh Giang expressed his belief that the upcoming meeting with Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha will be an opportunity for overseas Vietnamese to express their feelings, aspirations and valuable contributions, and to participate in giving advice on building and investing in the development of their homeland. The meeting will continue to encourage overseas Vietnamese to continue to strongly promote their role as a bridge to bring Vietnamese goods and brands, promote Vietnamese cultural identity and fine traditions of our nation to New Zealand and international friends, and join hands to realize the aspiration to build a strong, prosperous and happy country.
