Dong Nai exceeds tree planting target for a green Vietnam

This result was achieved thanks to Dong Nai actively implementing the program with the spirit of the entire political system participating. The movement of “Every house plants trees, every person plants trees” has become a beautiful feature in the culture of the province. The above achievement is even more impressive when Dong Nai is a province with many industrial parks, rapid urbanization, and a large area of ​​forest land converted to other purposes for economic development.

Implementing the Project of Planting 1 Billion Trees in the period of 2021-2025, in mid-2021, the People's Committee of Dong Nai province issued Plan No. 8265 to implement the above project. One of the difficult problems of Dong Nai is that it is an industrial province with many localities with high urbanization levels and many industrial parks, so there is almost no land left for green tree development. In the period of 2021-2025, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (now the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment ) assigned Dong Nai province to plant more than 7.23 million trees. However, Dong Nai still sets a high goal that by 2025, the whole province will plant 20 million trees on agricultural and non-agricultural land.

The Tree Planting Program has contributed to stabilizing the tree coverage rate in the province at 52%, forest coverage rate at 28.7%, completing and exceeding the targets according to the Resolution of the Provincial Party Committee and Provincial People's Council.

The time to implement the above plan was also the time when the Covid-19 epidemic broke out, the whole province had to practice social distancing, and it was impossible to organize tree planting campaigns. In addition, the work of mobilizing social resources to plant trees in 2021, the first year of implementing the plan, also encountered many difficulties because the epidemic greatly affected socio-economic development.

With a high spirit of determination, immediately after social distancing, units and localities in the province mobilized forces and people to participate in planting trees along national highways, office premises, parks; converting vacant land to grow fruit trees, industrial trees; implementing greening of forest land... Thanks to that, in 2021, Dong Nai planted nearly 1.74 million trees, reaching 98% of the yearly plan.

In the 2021-2024 period, the whole province has planted nearly 20.6 million trees, nearly 3 times higher than the target assigned by the Central Government by 2025. It is expected that in 2025, the whole province will plant an additional 4.4 million trees. Thus, it is expected that in the 2021-2025 period, the whole province will plant more than 25 million trees, exceeding the target assigned by the Central Government by 17.7 million trees.

Achieving the above impressive results is thanks to the active contributions of the people and organizations such as businesses, military units, agencies, unions... in terms of human resources, financial resources, and land funds for afforestation and tree planting.

Colonel Nguyen Anh Tuan, Brigade Commander of the 22nd Armored Brigade, said that the Tree Planting Festival has become a meaningful movement, actively responded to by all levels, sectors, organizations, and the entire army. Implementing the Project of Planting 1 Billion Trees, over the past 5 years, the 22nd Armored Brigade has proactively deployed many practical and effective measures in tree planting. The entire brigade has planted and cared for thousands of trees of all kinds, creating a clean and beautiful landscape, contributing to improving the quality of training, combat readiness, and improving the material and spiritual life of soldiers. In particular, the brigade also closely coordinated with the authorities and people of Dong Nai to implement many tree planting programs associated with forest protection, environmental restoration, spreading the spirit of responsibility and affection for nature and the country. Mr. Mai Trong Kieu's family (residing in Ngoc Dinh commune, Dinh Quan district) has planted about 3,000 precious trees such as: dó bầu, giá tỵ, agarwood intercropped with fruit trees and annual trees in an area of ​​more than 3 hectares of the family. He started planting forests in 2021, when the province launched the Green Tree Planting Movement. Although the above forest trees will take dozens of years to be effective, he still chooses to plant forests because, in addition to economic value, forest trees bring many benefits to the environment and human life.

In addition, businesses have actively participated in many forms such as self-organizing tree planting on roads and concentrated forest planting. Specifically, in Bien Hoa city, BAT - VINATABA Tobacco Joint Venture Company planted trees on roads with a length of about 6km; Tin Nghia Corporation planted 1.5 hectares of trees; CP Vietnam Livestock Joint Stock Company planted 10 hectares of mangrove protection forest (equivalent to 2.5 billion VND)... In addition, the whole province has 31 businesses supporting nearly 1.4 billion VND to buy seedlings to support localities and units in forest planting. Districts and cities of the province are all active in mobilizing socialized resources to contribute to planting trees on rural roads.
