Dong Nai requests next steps for 366 cases of absenteeism during social housing inspection

(DN) - On May 2, at a working session with departments, branches and Bien Hoa city, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ho Van Ha requested these units to review their civil servants and public employees who are renting or renting houses at social housing projects in Bien Hoa city. In case they already have houses and no longer need to use social housing, they should voluntarily return them and make room for those who really need them.

The provincial People's Committee also requested the Department of Construction to take further measures to handle more than 366 cases (more than 40% of households subject to inspection) who reported being absent when the inspection team went to work.

In cases where people have been called upon to voluntarily return their houses and follow-up measures have been taken but cases of social housing being used by the wrong people are still discovered, the province will resolutely reclaim them and take appropriate measures to handle them.

Previously, on April 26, 2025, the Department of Construction issued Conclusion No. 01/KL-SXD on the inspection of the implementation of legal provisions on management, use, rental, and hire-purchase of social housing in Bien Hoa city. This conclusion pointed out that 366/914 cases subject to inspection were absent despite being notified in advance, causing difficulties for the inspection work. From that result, the Department of Construction recommended that the Provincial People's Committee direct departments, branches, sectors and localities to have a form of review for officials and civil servants using social housing who are absent and do not cooperate well with the inspection team; coordinate with the Department of Construction and the investor of the social housing project to make a list of cases that do not need to use it, request to return it, to arrange for eligible cases.
