Delegates pressed the button to start construction of Vinabeef Tam Dao Beef Breeding and Processing Complex.
The Vinabeef Tam Dao complex project is deployed on a total area of 75.6 hectares in Tam Dao, Vinh Phuc. The complex consists of 2 main sub-areas: a beef cattle farm with a capacity of 10,000 heads and a chilled beef processing factory with a capacity of 30,000 heads/year (10,000 tons of products/year). This is the first project in the investment and cooperation plan between leading corporations in Vietnam and Japan in the field of high-tech agriculture - beef cattle farming and processing with a total cooperation agreement value of up to 500 million USD signed at the end of 2021. Phase 1 of the project has a total investment of approximately 3,000 billion VND. Of which, the total investment in construction for the farm and factory cluster in Tam Dao is 1,670 billion VND. The project is expected to come into operation in 2024 with chilled beef products processed using Japanese technology under the Vinabeef brand. Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien highly appreciated the vision, leadership, and drastic and effective direction of the Party Committee and the government of Vinh Phuc province in supporting and accompanying businesses when implementing investment projects in the locality, especially for large-scale projects, applying high technology and having wide influence such as the Vinabeef Tam Dao Complex Project to promote innovation in the growth model associated with improving the quality, efficiency and competitiveness of the economy. At the same time, the Minister also welcomed and highly appreciated the efforts and determination of the Investor in implementing and realizing the investment cooperation commitment with the province signed in the presence of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh during his visit to Japan at the end of 2021. This is a large-scale investment project, applying high technology in livestock farming and food processing according to a closed process, for the first time implemented in Vietnam. "The successful implementation of this important project not only marks the cooperation between the leading corporations of the two countries; affirms the strategic vision of the Investor and the dynamism, creativity, and spectacular resilience of Vinamilk in terms of its ability to participate more deeply in the production and supply chain in the region and globally, but also elevates Vietnam's high-tech livestock industry to develop in a sustainable, green, circular, and environmentally friendly direction, while contributing to strengthening the comprehensive and extensive strategic partnership between the two economies of Vietnam and Japan, especially taking place on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries," affirmed Minister Nguyen Hong Dien.

In 2023, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Vietnam - Japan diplomacy , the project was officially started. With that meaning, the Vinabeef Tam Dao Complex not only marks the cooperation between the leading corporations of the two countries but also the efforts and determination of businesses and Vinh Phuc province in promoting the cooperative relationship for mutual development between Vietnam and Japan, especially in the fields of high-tech agriculture and food production and processing. At the event, Mr. Masayoshi Fujimoto, Chairman of Sojitz Corporation of Japan, said that this is a potential and key project in Vietnam of the group in at least the next 5 to 10 years. “The beef market in Vietnam still has a lot of room for growth, the demand for consumption and use of high-quality meat products is still very large, we believe that the project will create a breakthrough in the market after it starts operating. Moreover, Vinamilk and Vilico are large, reputable partners with strengths in resources, experience in the livestock industry, operations, and market understanding. We will be great partners to accompany and complement each other in implementing the Vinabeef Tam Dao complex and many other projects in the future”. A notable point about Vinabeef Tam Dao is that the project is planned to be built and operated according to a closed 4-in-1 process: Breeding - Production - Processing - Distribution. Thereby, it will provide outstanding products such as chilled beef that are guaranteed to be fresh, delicious, nutritious and safe for the health of Vietnamese consumers. The 4-in-1 process starts from a natural farming model, the beef cattle will be raised on ecological farms that meet Global GAP standards with special care and high technology application. Here, Japanese experts coordinate with the experienced Vinamilk - Vilico team to operate the farm to develop a quality beef cattle herd. Next is the production process according to humane principles and Japanese standards with an on-site rapid cooling system, helping to inhibit the growth of bacteria, ensuring product safety standards. With a factory with a production capacity of 10,000 tons of meat/year (equivalent to 30,000 heads/year), Vinabeef's chilled beef products are processed completely cleanly on a modern, closed, highly automated production line, applying modern technology to ensure the freshness and highest nutrition for the product. From here, the distribution process will continue to be strictly controlled, meeting the strict requirements of the cold supply chain, with the ability to trace the origin to ensure the quality and safety of each product from farm to table.
