On May 28, the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue and Civil Defense (PCTT-TKCN-PTDS) of Khanh Hoa province sent an official dispatch to departments, branches, units and localities to proactively respond to low pressure areas in the East Sea and heavy rains that could cause flash floods and landslides in the province.

Specifically, according to the bulletin of the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, a low-pressure area has formed in the East Sea. At 1:00 p.m. on May 28, the low-pressure area was in the sea off the coast of the South Central provinces (northwest of the Truong Sa archipelago). Due to the influence of the low-pressure area, the sea area from Binh Dinh to Khanh Hoa , the northern East Sea area (including the Hoang Sa archipelago), the central and southern East Sea area (including the Truong Sa archipelago) will have showers and thunderstorms.

In addition, according to the bulletin of the Khanh Hoa Provincial Hydrometeorological Station, Khanh Hoa province will have showers and thunderstorms from the afternoon of May 28 to the end of May 30, with some places experiencing moderate to heavy rain. Rainfall in some places will range from 70-130mm, with some places experiencing over 190mm.

To proactively respond to low pressure areas in the East Sea and heavy rains that can cause flash floods and landslides, and to implement the official dispatch of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment on responding to low pressure areas in the East Sea, the Provincial Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control - Search and Rescue - Disaster Prevention and Control requests localities and units to closely monitor warning bulletins, forecasts and developments of low pressure areas; notify captains and owners of vehicles and vessels operating at sea to proactively prevent and ensure safety of people and property; maintain communication to promptly handle bad situations that may occur.

People's Committees of districts, towns and cities direct forces to be on guard at areas at risk of floods, flash floods, landslides and inundation; review plans to ensure traffic safety, especially in areas that are easily isolated; proactively arrange forces, materials and means to overcome incidents and ensure smooth traffic on main traffic routes. Review disaster response scenarios, resolutely evacuate people in areas at risk of deep flooding, flash floods and landslides.

The Provincial Military Command, the Provincial Border Guard Command, the Provincial Police and local search and rescue units reviewed plans, proactively deployed forces, vehicles and equipment to support localities in responding to floods and storms, and were ready to evacuate people and conduct rescue operations when required.

Reservoir management units strictly organize shifts, monitor water level changes of reservoirs, regularly inspect and assess the safety of dams in the area; prioritize water storage in low-capacity reservoirs, ensuring water supply for water needs in 2025; operate reservoirs in accordance with approved procedures and plans for natural disaster prevention and control to ensure safety of works and limit flooding in downstream areas.

Khanh Hoa Provincial Hydrometeorological Station continues to closely monitor the developments of floods, landslides, flash floods and promptly provide and update disaster forecasts and warnings to authorities at all levels and people to proactively deploy response work.

Khanh Hoa Newspaper and mass media continue to monitor and report promptly and accurately on the developments of floods and storms, and the response work of all levels and sectors so that people know and proactively prevent them. Departments, sectors and sectors, according to their state management functions and assigned tasks, proactively direct and coordinate with localities to review plans to ensure safety and effectiveness in the face of floods and storms; organize 24/7 on-duty shifts, regularly report to the Provincial Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention - Search and Rescue - Disaster Prevention for synthesis and report to the Provincial People's Committee for timely direction.
