Plan to invest in Tan An - Binh Hiep road with scale of 8-10 lanes

On May 17, information from the Department of Construction said that the unit is developing an investment plan for the Tan An - Binh Hiep road project parallel to the existing National Highway 62 to advise the Provincial People's Committee to submit to competent authorities for decision.

Accordingly, the Tan An - Binh Hiep road project will be about 63.5km long, starting at the intersection between Provincial Road 834B and Tan An City Ring Road, ending at the intersection with Provincial Road 831, about 1.8km from Binh Hiep intersection.

Tan An - Binh Hiep road is expected to be 63.5km long, with a complete scale of 8-10 lanes.

The road is invested with a scale of 8-10 lanes. In which, phase 1 will invest in 6 lanes, phase 2 will complete the investment to reach a scale of 8-10 lanes. The project will carry out site clearance of 60m, from the center of the road to each side 30m.

It is expected that the route will pass through Thu Thua district for about 3.15km, Thanh Hoa district for about 34.64km, Moc Hoa district for about 13.29km and Kien Tuong town for about 12.42km.

The project also calculated many options for investment capital. According to the public investment method, the total investment is about 8,478 billion VND.

Existing National Highway 62 is seriously degraded.

There are also two options for investing in the public-private partnership model. If the investment is made in a lump sum upon completion of the project, the total investment will be approximately VND9,447 billion. If the investment is made in a 5-year deferred payment plan, the total investment will be approximately VND11,116 billion.

When completed, Tan An - Binh Hiep road will be an important driving axis from the provincial center to Dong Thap Muoi area and connect with the Kingdom of Cambodia, creating more new development space parallel to National Highway 62.

Most recently, at the meeting of the Provincial Party Executive Committee, the Provincial Party Committee also highly agreed with the investment policy of the Tan An - Binh Hiep connecting road; at the same time, assigned the Provincial Party Committee to urgently lead the Provincial People's Committee to advise on the implementation of procedural steps, ensuring compliance with regulations and as quickly as possible to start construction in early 2026.

In addition, the Provincial Party Committee also proposed to include the Tan An - Binh Hiep road project in the key projects of the Provincial Party Congress Resolution for the 2025 - 2030 term.

Currently, from the provincial center to the districts of Dong Thap Muoi, there is only National Highway 62, which was invested in since 2000 with a 6m wide road surface, 9m roadbed, and 2 lanes. After 25 years of operation, National Highway 62 has not been invested in or repaired, the road surface is damaged and seriously degraded, posing a potential risk to traffic safety and failing to meet development requirements.

Currently, the upgrading and expansion of National Highway 62, although the Government has agreed on the implementation policy, is still waiting for loan capital to implement the project./.
