Data from the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs of Bac Giang province shows that in 2021, the whole province had 24,639 poor households, accounting for 5.27%, and 24,516 near-poor households, accounting for 5.24%. In 2022, the number of poor households decreased to 17,946 households, accounting for 3.81%, and 19,797 near-poor households, accounting for 4.2%.
It is expected that by the end of this year, the province's poverty rate will decrease to about 3%.
In the 2021-2025 period, the province strives to reduce the poverty rate by an average of 1% per year, with the poor district of Son Dong reducing it by 4-5% per year; and the particularly disadvantaged communes reducing it by 3.5% or more.
To complete this goal, from the capital of the National Target Program on Sustainable Poverty Reduction for the period 2021-2025, the Provincial People's Committee has allocated more than 431 billion VND, of which the central budget is more than 388 billion VND, the remaining provincial budget to implement 7 projects, including a number of projects with direct beneficiaries being poor households such as housing renovation, vocational training, and production development.
To date, localities have provided vocational training to nearly 2,300 people, including more than 1,000 workers with elementary qualifications. In addition, from 2021 to present, 313 households have received support to renovate and build houses, of which 275 have completed and moved into new houses.
For production development projects and poverty reduction model replication, localities have approved about 30% of support projects and are preparing for implementation.
