The landslide occurred on October 7 at km 12+640 of Provincial Road 155, about 60 m long, with about 20,000 m3 of rock and soil spilling onto the road (photo above).
Immediately after the incident, authorities were present at the scene to fix the landslide and divert traffic, striving to clear the route within 4 days. According to the traffic diversion plan, vehicles traveling from Lao Cai city to Sa Pa town and vice versa will not go through Mong Sen bridge, but will follow National Highway 4D (3-level slope).
This area has shown signs of landslides since October 1. Lao Cai Road Joint Stock Company has coordinated with the authorities to put up signs, stretch warning ropes and provide traffic guidance for people to travel safely.
