Department of Science and Technology evaluates scientific research topics in Bao Yen and Van Ban districts

On May 30, a working delegation from the Department of Science and Technology inspected and evaluated the implementation of scientific research projects in Bao Yen and Van Ban districts.

The working group inspected the project "Research on breeding some species of ants under the forest canopy to create concentrated ant egg products of good quality".

The two scientific research topics that were examined and evaluated this time were “Research on breeding some species of ants under the forest canopy to create concentrated ant egg products of good quality” (implemented in Tan An commune, Van Ban district and Bao Ha commune, Bao Yen district); “Research on selecting fast-growing bodhi varieties, high resin yield and solutions to control major pests in an organic direction” (Pho Rang town, Bao Yen district and Vo Lao commune, Van Ban district). The above scientific research topics were implemented by the Department of Science and Technology in coordination with the Forest Protection Research Center (Vietnam Forestry Science Institute) in prospective localities.

The project "Research on breeding some species of ants under the forest canopy to create concentrated ant egg products of good quality" initially gave good results.

Through initial assessment, the project "Research on breeding some species of ants under the forest canopy to create concentrated ant egg products of good quality" after researching and testing suitable ant egg species, has tested breeding 800 ant nests in 2 households. After 5 months of breeding, through inspection, it was shown that the nests developed well, the two ant species selected for breeding developed well, promising to bring guaranteed egg production. For the project "Research on selecting fast-growing Bodhi varieties, high resin yield and solutions to control major pests in an organic direction" was carried out on the basis of taking seeds from superior Bodhi trees, breeding nearly 6,000 trees. By the evaluation period, it showed that the Bodhi variety is growing and developing stably.

The above scientific research topics are implemented in conjunction with the livelihoods of people with forestry areas, thereby affirming the prospect of creating a new economic development direction on the basis of taking advantage of available forest areas. The above scientific research topics with high applicability promise to be able to be replicated into models contributing to hunger eradication, poverty reduction, and income improvement for people in disadvantaged areas and ethnic minority areas.
