As a province at the headwaters of the southwestern border, An Giang is endowed by nature with unique features: majestic mountains, vast forests appearing in the middle of a vast plain, blending with the two rivers Tien and Hau, along with a dense system of rivers and canals. The province has many historical relics, cultural architecture associated with cultural traditions, festival customs. Along with many places with strong religious, ecological, community tourism, specialty dishes... creating tangible and intangible values, bringing attraction to tourists. Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Khanh Hiep shared: "Compared to other localities, An Giang has a lot of potential for tourism development with clearly different advantages in terms of terrain. This difference creates favorable conditions for the province to develop tourism into a spearhead economic sector".
Many famous places are present on the tourism map, such as: Ba Chua Xu Temple on Sam Mountain, Sam Mountain National Tourist Area, Cam Mountain Tourist Area, President Ton Duc Thang Memorial Area (special national relic); Thoai Ngoc Hau Tomb; the majestic That Son range, with the Maitreya Buddha statue on the top of Cam Mountain recognized as an Asian record; Oc Eo - Ba The Special National Monument; Tra Su Melaleuca Ecological Tourist Area, Tuc Dup Hill... Along with Bung Binh Thien festival, Bay Nui bull racing; Khmer ethnic minority pagodas, colorful stilt houses, ancient mosques of Cham ethnic minority...
The whole province has a representative intangible cultural heritage of humanity recognized by UNESCO (Via Ba Chua Xu Festival on Sam Mountain), an intangible cultural heritage recognized by UNESCO (Southern amateur music); 8 national treasures; 8 national intangible cultural heritages; 90 historical - cultural relics, landscapes ranked (2 special national relics, 28 national relics and 60 provincial relics). The province is speeding up the process of UNESCO recognizing the Oc Eo - Ba The archaeological site as a world cultural heritage.
An Giang also has about 116 traditional festivals, 2 provincial cultural festivals with many rich and diverse forms of organization. Along with 88 ranked historical and cultural relics, including 2 special national relics. An Giang currently has 100 tourist accommodation establishments, of which 67 are ranked; 26 travel companies; 6 recognized tourist areas and spots...

Up to now, An Giang has diversified its products, developed tourism types associated with festivals, culture, traditional and modern sports, resort tourism... The province has developed a "smokeless industry", exploited its existing advantages, developed spiritual tourism, ecological tourism combined with experiences, resorts..., attracting tourists, such as: Paragliding, kite-gliding, hot air balloon performances, trekking Cam mountain, acoustic music night on Cam mountain... Along with agricultural tourism types, ecological tourism attracts many domestic and international tourists: Chau Phong commune community tourism associated with Chau Giang - Da Phuoc brocade weaving village, fish farming village at Chau Doc river junction, agricultural tourism in Van Giao commune associated with Thot Not sugar making village - Tra Su cajuput forest and listening to Khmer people's five-tone music, Lang Linh flood season tourism...
In recent years, with many efforts to exploit the potential and strengths of An Giang's tourism services and products, its competitiveness has been gradually affirmed. The tourism industry's activities have become increasingly systematic, and the number of tourists to An Giang has continuously increased, making tourism one of the province's key economic sectors.
An Giang aims to become a cultural, spiritual and ecological tourism center of the region by 2030. Focus on developing key tourism areas: Special National Relic Site, President Ton Duc Thang Memorial Site, Oc Eo - Ba The Special National Relic Site, Sam Mountain National Tourism Area; Cam Mountain Tourism Area, Sap Mountain Tourism Area; Cu Lao Gieng Tourism Development Space. The plan to merge An Giang - Kien Giang provinces will promote tourism to new heights, becoming one of the most vibrant tourism destinations in the country.
In 2023, An Giang will welcome 8.5 million tourists (up 13% over the same period), with tourism revenue of VND 5,900 billion. In 2024, the province will welcome about 9.1 million visitors. In the first quarter of 2025, about 4.1 million visitors will come to the province, with revenue of VND 4,700 billion (up 4.4% over the same period). From April 30 to May 4, 2025, the province will welcome over 315,000 visitors, over 7,000 overnight guests, including nearly 300 international visitors. |
