Diversify and improve the quality of tourism products
In the planning and implementation of mechanisms and policies to serve tourism development, Phu Yen Tourism has integrated the content of tourism development planning into Phu Yen Provincial Planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050, approved by the Prime Minister. To carry out this task, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has developed the Phu Yen Provincial Tourism Development Project for the period 2024-2030, with a vision to 2050.
The entire industry and localities focus on implementing Action Program 09-CTr/TU dated August 18, 2021 of the Provincial Party Committee on tourism development investment in the 2021-2025 period, striving to become a spearhead economic sector of the province by 2030.
According to Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Le Vu, in 2024, the tourism industry will continue to invest, diversify and improve the quality of tourism products; build a number of products with the characteristics of Phu Yen to create competitive advantages. With its existing potential and advantages, Phu Yen is focusing on exploiting and developing strong tourism products such as: sea and island resort tourism, developing sea and island sightseeing tours; cultural - historical tourism, sightseeing tourism, eco-tourism, craft village tourism, community tourism and recently rural agricultural tourism, culinary culture tourism; implementing the pilot project of recreational sports activities on the sea in Tuy Hoa city, contributing to diversifying tourism products in the province. Promoting digital transformation; strengthening tourism promotion and expansion of international cooperation are also of interest to the provincial tourism industry and encouraging businesses to participate.
Together with the agricultural sector, tourism connects farmers' OCOP products to become an important element in the product chain serving tourists. The tourism sector coordinates with other sectors and localities to implement the Long Thuy community tourism village project (Tuy Hoa city), community tourism in the coastal area of Hoa Hiep Trung ward (Dong Hoa town); supports investment in developing existing community tourism, agricultural and rural tourism; encourages, supports and guides people to directly participate in tourism activities and benefit from tourism.
Mr. Nguyen Anh Quan, Director of An Cu Sedge Mat Tourism Service Production Cooperative (Tuy An district) said: The Cooperative gathers households from the sedge mat craft village in the commune, around O Loan lagoon, where there is a sedge field, the main material for the hundred-year-old craft village, helping the villagers have a stable income, feel secure in investing in development, and reviving the traditional craft. Since joining hands with the tourism industry, members of the Cooperative have participated in training courses on product introduction, welcoming guests, and receiving tourists. In addition to sedge mat products, the Cooperative also makes many handicraft products from sedge to sell to tourists, increasing income.
According to Ms. Dang Huynh Tuy Phuong, manager of Stelia Beach Resort, the tourism product "Indigenous stories - About the heritage of the sedge mat craft village" has added a new tourism product to the locality, increasing the choice for tourists to experience community culture, contributing to preserving and promoting the cultural values of traditional craft villages...
With all the efforts of the entire tourism industry and localities in the province, the basic indicators of tourism growth and development in 2024 have been achieved and exceeded the plan. The total number of tourists to Phu Yen in 2024 was nearly 4.1 million, exceeding 20% of the plan, up 27.5% over the same period last year; of which international visitors reached 30,020, reaching 150% of the plan, up 52% over the same period. Total revenue from tourists was over 8,000 billion VND, exceeding 10.7% of the plan, up 63.6% over the same period.
Developing tourism into a spearhead economic sector
Besides the achieved results, Phu Yen tourism still has many limitations that need to be overcome soon so that tourism can develop commensurate with its potential and become a key economic sector.
It can be seen that there are some limitations in the long term, such as: Underdeveloped infrastructure, especially traffic infrastructure. Tuy Hoa airport is located in the inner city area, which is very convenient, but has low frequency of flights to/from, high airfares, and has not yet exploited international flights. Tourism products are not diverse, small in scale, and have not yet defined key, unique products. The quality of human resources has not met the demand. The work of preserving and promoting the value of relics and scenic spots associated with tourism development is not very effective...
Continuing to implement Action Program 09-CTr/TU, dated August 18, 2021 of the Provincial Party Committee on tourism development investment in the period of 2021-2025, striving to become a spearhead economic sector of the province by 2030, this is a major and strategic orientation of the tourism industry.
Based on the list of priority investment projects for the 2021-2030 period approved by the Provincial People's Committee, the tourism sector, sectors and localities will increase attraction and call for investment projects in high-end tourism products; develop types of sports tourism on the sea, on the sand, golf courses and invest in developing the night-time economy... At the same time, strengthen promotion, advertising and linkage with localities and businesses; promote digital transformation, deploy marketing solutions to promote the development of Phu Yen tourism products and brands...
The tourism industry in general and Phu Yen tourism in particular achieved many important results in 2024, affirming its role as a key economic sector of the country. To maintain growth momentum and sustainable development, in 2025, the tourism industry will constantly innovate, overcome limitations and shortcomings, focus on developing diverse products, service quality, protecting the environment and exploiting existing potential more effectively, contributing significantly to local growth. |
