Having booked tickets for the whole family including husband, wife and 3 children to go to Da Lat for the upcoming Tet holiday, Ms. Mai Phuong (46 years old, Ba Dinh, Hanoi) said that although this is not a new destination for the whole family, she still "decided" to go again. Because she wanted to experience new homestays with good taste and music programs that have been talked about a lot recently.
In fact, not only Ms. Phuong's family but also many Vietnamese tourists are tending to "return to the old place" during Tet 2025. This trend is also consistent with the survey results of the online travel platform Booking.com just announced. The platform representative also revealed the popular and new destinations that Vietnamese tourists are looking for for the upcoming Tet holiday.
Sharing about the travel trends of Vietnamese people during the Lunar New Year 2025, Mr. Varun Grover, Country Director of Booking.com in Vietnam, said: “This Tet season, Vietnamese travelers are rewriting their travel guide. They tend to combine familiar, favorite destinations with more novel destinations. Whether it is cool highlands, vibrant coastal cities or quiet resorts, it can be seen that Vietnamese travelers are looking for destinations that allow them to connect with nature, with loved ones and with themselves.”
Accordingly, cool climates and coastal destinations are domestic tourist destinations chosen by many Vietnamese tourists during the Tet At Ty season.
Da Lat continues to top the list of favorite domestic destinations with a 300% increase in searches compared to last year. The romantic highland city offers beautiful natural scenery, cool weather and a peaceful space, ideal for relaxation.
Coastal destinations such as Nha Trang and Phu Quoc continue to attract beach and water sports enthusiasts, while major cities such as Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi continue to be popular choices for many tourists thanks to their rich history, vibrant culture and rich cuisine.
For those seeking a peaceful space, Vung Tau offers a relaxing experience with its peaceful coastline. Hoi An and Sa Pa are also ideal choices to explore ancient temples, poetic landscapes and diverse cultural heritage.
75% of Vietnamese tourists said they wanted to explore destinations during the cooler times of the day. Therefore, the above domestic tourist destinations are the perfect combination of relaxation and adventure activities. That contributes to a Tet holiday worth looking forward to.
Mr. Varun Grover said the 10 domestic destinations most searched by Vietnamese tourists from January 24 to February 9, 2025, in order of priority, include: Da Lat, Nha Trang, Phu Quoc, Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City, Vung Tau, Hanoi, Mui Ne, Hoi An, Sa Pa.

It is followed by Tokyo (Japan) and Phuket (Thailand).
