The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism has just informed about the situation of people and tourism businesses in Ho Chi Minh City responding to the April 30 holiday, spreading the spirit of national pride and the "uniqueness" of the destination named after Uncle Ho.
Hotels hit ' peak ' capacity
According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism, from April 27 to May 1, room occupancy rates at 1-5 star hotels in the city center reached 95-100%.
Many 4-5 star hotels are fully booked. Hotels in the surrounding area also reached 80% occupancy or more, especially during the two peak days of April 30 and May 1, when many places were "fully booked".
Not only stopping at accommodation services, hotels and restaurants organize many meaningful activities such as posting historical gratitude messages on online platforms; displaying OCOP products; setting up areas to record feelings, arranging guestbooks for visitors to write by hand...
To attract tourists on this special occasion, some hotels have also set up spaces to screen documentary films about Southern Liberation Day, free of charge for guests staying in the evenings from April 28 to May 1.
Or the arrangement of the check-in area with the background image of Independence Palace, Nha Rong Wharf or 390 tank is loved by many tourists and widely shared on social networks.
City tourism and historical tours "explode"
Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism assessed that based on a synthesis from travel businesses, the number of tourists choosing to depart late (May 1 and 2) tends to increase.
However, the main trend is to stay in the city and join the inner city tour, the journey back to the source, exploring the historical space on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the country's reunification.
The number of customers booking flights to Ho Chi Minh City from April 29 to May 4 increased 3 times; inner-city tours doubled compared to 2024.
For example, Vietluxtour has seen a 50% increase in total visitors to Ho Chi Minh City, with a 25% increase in group and corporate visitors. Tours such as "Heroic Unification" and "Return to the Steel Land" have been well received.
Or Vietnam Tourism has a growth rate of 20%, 58% of tour buyers choose to travel domestically. Meanwhile, Vietravel and Saigontourist recorded a stable number of customers.
In addition to popular tours, according to the department, businesses also deploy many highly interactive products such as the tour themed "Tunnel Exploration - Return to the Land of Steel", where visitors are guided to crawl into tunnels, eat rice balls and wear soldier costumes.
According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism, city tour packages combined with activities to find historical secrets following the imprint of old Saigon are also welcomed by young people. Notably, retail tours (buying individual services such as air tickets, hotels, tour guides) have also increased sharply, meeting the needs of self-designed schedules of young groups of tourists or businessmen traveling with their families.
Many people in Ho Chi Minh City become amateur tour guides on the occasion of April 30th holiday.
