Accordingly, 4,851 students have registered to take the entrance exam for grade 6 in the 2025-2026 school year at Tran Dai Nghia Secondary and High School. With a target of 350 students, the competition ratio for Tran Dai Nghia School this year is 1/14.

Thus, this year the number of candidates is higher, resulting in a higher competition rate for grade 6 than last year.
This year, candidates will take a 90-minute aptitude test on June 16, 2025, consisting of 2 parts.
In the multiple choice section, candidates take a 20-question test in English in 30 minutes. The content of this section is about understanding natural sciences, social sciences and common sense.
In the essay section, candidates will take the test in 60 minutes. The content includes testing English proficiency in listening, reading, and writing skills; math and logical thinking skills; reading comprehension and writing skills (candidates will take the test in Vietnamese).
Based on the results of the survey, the department will consider from high to low until the quota is met. Students who do not pass the 6th grade entrance exam at Tran Dai Nghia Secondary and High School will still be considered for 6th grade admission according to the regulations of the enrollment steering committee of districts in Ho Chi Minh City.
It is known that the enrollment target for the 2025-2026 school year has decreased significantly compared to before the school separation. The previous target of Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted was usually 535 6th grade students.
