Bringing pottery to the city

From a time when she took her child to a pottery workshop in Da Lat, Ms. Truong Khac Uyen (Ward 4, Tan An City, Long An Province) "fell in love" with this subject and cherished the desire to bring the art of pottery to Tan An City.

The products completed at the workshop will be glazed and carefully fired by Ms. Uyen, becoming complete ceramic products before being sent to the participants.

In a quiet space, participants in pottery making are free to develop their creativity, meticulousness and concentration. Molding clay and creating their own products is a special experience, helping each person connect with themselves through artistic creativity. That is the motivation for Ms. Uyen to "bring pottery to the city". Ms. Uyen said: "After participating in a pottery workshop with my child in Da Lat, I found this subject really interesting because it helps children unleash their creativity. Pottery is also a long-standing traditional profession associated with many stories about craft villages and artisans . When children approach pottery, they not only learn and play, but can also find a career direction if they really love it."

With that in mind, she spent time learning pottery, researching suitable materials and starting to build a class. She failed many times when the products were not as expected, but by the 5th batch of pottery, she was able to create products that met the requirements, paving the way for the first official workshop.

Workshop participants can mold pottery by themselves, creating shapes according to their own ideas, and after the firing and finishing process, the product becomes a "unique" item, both valuable in use and a memorable keepsake.

Having participated in the workshop four times, Thien Kim said: “I really like the feeling of turning a block of clay into a product of my own choosing. With the teacher’s guidance, I can turn all my imagination into a product.”

As an art teacher, Ms. Uyen wants to inspire creativity in each member participating in the workshop . Therefore, she limits the number of participants to no more than 15 people per workshop, so that she can closely follow and support each person to create a unique product with a personal touch.

Each ceramic product is creative, personal and “unique”.

Although there is no age limit for participants, Ms. Uyen still prioritizes children and families who register together, because she wants to inspire children with art; at the same time, create opportunities for family members to have time to "study and play together", connect with each other through interesting creative experiences, especially this summer./.
