However, in the context that the duration of subjects in the new generaleducation program is currently quite heavy for students of all levels, putting Hanoi into studying the same local education program in the school year curriculum framework requires reasonable calculation to avoid overloading students.
According to Plan No. 182/KH-UBND on organizing the implementation of Directive No. 30-CT/TU of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee "Strengthening the leadership of the Party Committee at all levels in building elegant and civilized Hanoians by 2025", Hanoi will complete documents and research to include the content of Hanoi Studies in the curriculum at schools, implementing the criteria of Happy Schools... The project "Training knowledge of Hanoi Studies for general education teachers in Hanoi for the period 2021 - 2025, orientation to 2030, vision to 2045" also clearly states that the content of training knowledge of Hanoi Studies will closely follow the subject of Local Education of Hanoi City to provide comprehensive and in-depth knowledge about Hanoi to help teachers have solid knowledge to teach Local Education at all levels. For primary and secondary schools, focus on introducing basic issues about the history of formation and development, traditions of the homeland; geography, population, natural landscape, natural environment; some contents about economy , society, moral education, lifestyle related to protecting the natural environment in the locality. For high school level, focus on introducing topics with contents introducing geography, economy, society, environment, career orientation... the current and future strengths of the locality in order to help students orient their careers while still in school, meeting the needs of human resource development in the city in the current development trend.
Dr. Le Thi Thu Huong, Head of the Faculty of Culture & Tourism, Hanoi Capital University, said: In fact, Hanoi Studies is a subject that studies and disseminates knowledge about Hanoi, about the overall relationship between people and nature, people and people in a place with a thousand-year history of culture. The core element of Hanoi Studies is to research mainly the history and culture of the capital, but also through data on natural conditions, politics , administration, economic and social activities. At the same time, Hanoi Studies is an interdisciplinary subject, so it requires in-depth research and synthesis. When teaching Hanoi Studies in schools, in addition to relying on the available basic research results, teachers also need to have applied research to teach with appropriate methods and approaches depending on the students. Currently, Hanoi Capital University is presiding over and coordinating with the Hanoi Department of Education and Training to implement the Project "Training Hanoi Studies knowledge for general education teachers in Hanoi for the period 2021 - 2025, oriented to 2030, vision to 2045"...
Mr. Tran The Cuong, Director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, said that Hanoi is currently the locality with the largest educational scale in the country with 2,913 schools and 2.3 million students. Education work has always received special attention from the city with the goal of training a generation of students approaching global citizens, good at foreign languages, expertise and knowledgeable about history. Recently, the Capital Education sector has coordinated with the City Party Committee's Propaganda Department and the Capital University to compile local educational materials, including knowledge about Hanoi studies. The Hanoi Department of Education and Training has also trained cadres and teachers so that each teacher is an active propagandist spreading the beautiful image of the capital city of culture, civilization and humanity.
However, the leader of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training also said that the inclusion of Hanoi studies and local history education in schools is currently facing some obstacles. Among them, the current curriculum is too heavy for students at all levels. Specifically, the curriculum framework for the school year according to the 2018 General Education Program currently stipulates that junior high school has 1,032 lessons/year, or about 29.5 lessons/week; high school has 1,015 lessons/year, or about 29 lessons/week. Therefore, to include Hanoi studies and the local education program in the school year curriculum framework requires the education sector to have reasonable calculations to avoid overloading students. "Currently, the revised Capital Law has allowed Hanoi to be proactive in this matter. In the coming time, when we receive permission, we will definitely implement the inclusion of Hanoi studies in the curriculum in schools," said Mr. Tran The Cuong.
