Mr. Nguyen Trung Dung, General Director of BK Holdings system, and Chairman of Hanoi Association of Innovation and Entrepreneurship.

During the trip to connect with the innovation ecosystem in Switzerland organized by the Swiss Government 's Startup Support Program (Swiss EP) in 2022, Mr. Dung connected with Thomas Gfeller - Chairman and co-founder of SIPBB to discuss the possibilities of coordination to enhance Innovation Parks in Vietnam, especially in the capital.

Sharing about the role of Swiss EP and experts in Vietnam, Mr. Hub Langstaff - Director of SwissEP Vietnam said that among the 7 markets SwissEP is operating in, Vietnam is currently the most potential market.

SwissEP hopes to extend its operations in Vietnam for the next four years to continue supporting Vietnam in building capacity after seven years of operations and another four years.

After operating since 2015, starting with programs to support entrepreneurship and gradually focusing on innovation, SwissEP believes this is the perfect time to connect the Vietnamese and Swiss innovation ecosystems.

Therefore, SwissEP organized a connecting trip between the two sides and where BK Holdings met with SIPBB. Mr. Hub emphasized that SwissEP is very proud of its humble role as a connecting factor between BK Holdings and SIPBB, but reaching a cooperation agreement to bring the Swiss Innovation Park model to Vietnam is a commendable effort of the two units.

Born in the city of Biel/Bienne in Switzerland, a country with famous brands that have gone down in history such as Rolex with high-precision products and production lines, SIPBB has the mission of helping businesses narrow the gap between industrial production and new technology research.

Build and manage a platform for industry partners and scientists to conceive, test and demonstrate new technology solutions.

Sharing from SIPBB, Mr. Thomas Gfeller - Chairman and co-founder said, BK Holdings has great potential in terms of vision, ability and people, and is the perfect partner for SIPBB.

SIPBB is now focusing on micro mechanics and robotics to go further in terms of precision, innovation, and manufacturing processes.

SIPBB has an office combined with a 15,000m2 research facility, which is like a technology-providing machine to create a playground for businesses, scientific researchers, and universities to work, connect, and unleash their creativity.

In which the research facility is implementing solutions combining smart manufacturing and clean technology.

Specifically, this combination is applied to the development of a solution for processing used car batteries, making the processing process more efficient, faster, and more environmentally friendly, ensuring compliance with European battery standards. This is also one of the opportunities for SIPBB to discuss with BK Holdings in the strategy of building an Innovation Park in Hanoi.

With the strategy of building an Innovation Park in Hanoi, Mr. Thomas Gfeller shared about 2 great opportunities to apply, which are:

1. Build a location similar to SIPBB's office/research institute in Switzerland to serve as a playground for manufacturing enterprises, technology enterprises, and researchers to connect and improve the quality of production lines. He shared that this opportunity is huge, as Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) also constantly want to improve their product manufacturing processes.

2. Vietnam should invest in industrial battery technology. Electric vehicles (EVs) will play a big role in the future economy, and Vietnam has received international investment to encourage the development of this market. Therefore, Vietnam can apply the models in Biel to research battery technology, or produce home electric vehicle charging stations.
