Do not update to Windows 11 if you are using an MSI motherboard.

According to PCMag , the current issue appears to be related to specific MSI motherboards, so users should check what motherboard they have before downloading the update. The update causing the problem is KB5029351, released for Windows 11 earlier this month. Affected MSI motherboards belong to the Intel 600 and 700 series, so the manufacturer has recommended users avoid updating if they haven't already installed it.

The issue has been reported with MSI's Intel 600 and 700 series motherboards.

The error is called UNSUPPORTED_PROCESSOR. If you've encountered this issue, you can try the temporary workaround as instructed by MSI before Microsoft releases an official fix. According to MSI, KB5029351 may be automatically uninstalled to allow Windows to restore to its normal state . However, if KB5029351 is not automatically uninstalled, users are advised to revert their BIOS to a previous version and uninstall KB5029351 from Windows.

Currently, both MSI and Microsoft are aware of the issue and are actively investigating the cause. However, there is no precise timeline for when the two companies will release a final fix. In the meantime, users should temporarily pause Windows 11 updates if they have an MSI motherboard.

If you're unsure which type of motherboard you have, you can easily check through your computer's settings by searching for System Information, then looking for BaseBoard Manufacturer and BaseBoard Product in System Summary. This will show which company made the motherboard and what type it is.

If you have an MSI motherboard, you can check it against MSI's list to see if it belongs to the Intel 600 and 700 series before updating to Windows 11 to avoid BSOD issues.
