Stop jet skiing activities at Cua Lo beach

Vinh City has requested a temporary suspension of jet skiing activities after tourists complained about this type of entertainment entering areas where people are swimming.

On May 8, Mr. Nguyen Quang Vinh - Head of the Department of Culture - Science and Information of Vinh City, Nghe An - said that the city has established working groups, coordinated with local authorities to organize inspections, rectify and handle violations related to jet skiing activities.

Recently, on social networks, many people have reported that taking advantage of the large number of tourists coming to swim at the beach, jet ski service companies on Cua Lo beach have illegally operated jet skis, rushing into the beach to pick up and drop off passengers, weaving and swinging, endangering tourists swimming at the beach.

In Cua Lo beach area, there are three businesses including Ngoc Bao Kien Company Limited, Dai Duong Tourism Company, and Dao Ngoc Company Limited with about 9 jet skis serving the entertainment and experience needs of tourists.

Before this year's tourist season, Vinh City People's Committee received proposals from three businesses to organize services related to jet skiing activities at Cua Lo beach.

Because it has not fully met the regulations, Vinh city has not agreed to the proposal of the above enterprises.

After receiving feedback from public opinion, Vinh city requested these three businesses to temporarily suspend jet ski services at Cua Lo beach when they do not meet the conditions.

According to Mr. Vinh, organizing sports service business activities, including adventure sports such as jet skiing, is very necessary to diversify service types and meet the needs of experience and exploration of a segment of tourists.

However, the provision of these services must comply with new regulations to be allowed to operate.

"When businesses resubmit plans to build entry and exit wharves and offshore operating areas, and receive written permission from the Department of Construction, the city will allow them to resume operations," said Mr. Vinh.

In 2025, Vinh city has deployed many free services in Cua Lo such as free parking, free showers, free public toilets and free wifi.

Decision 22/2019 of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee on management and operation of jet skis in Cua Lo town stipulates that jet skis are prohibited from operating in areas with waterways, regular ship routes, and tourist bathing areas.
