On the afternoon of May 14, the leader of the People's Committee of Dan Hoa commune (Minh Hoa, Quang Binh ) confirmed that National Highway 12A leading to Cha Lo international border gate through this commune is paralyzed due to hundreds of trucks stuck for more than 2km.
Accordingly, the traffic jam started in the morning of the same day. At that time, many trucks were gathered at the border gate to complete customs procedures to Laos.
However, the road on the other side of the border - the section from Naphao border gate to inland Laos - was seriously damaged, so these vehicles were stuck at the border gate.
By noon of the same day, hundreds of other container trucks and heavy trucks also followed National Highway 12A to Cha Lo international border gate, causing a traffic jam of more than 2km.
Many drivers worry that the goods on their vehicles will be damaged due to the long waiting time for customs clearance, but there is no way to move them.
The area near the Vietnam - Laos border has had continuous heavy rain in recent days, so the road damage has become more serious.
Quang Binh authorities were present at the traffic jam area to regulate and ensure security and order.
It is known that Cha Lo international border gate is the main trade bridge between Vietnam and Laos. Some cargo owners also transport goods through this border gate to Laos, then continue to Thailand.
