The 35th anniversary of the Vietnam Buddhist Studies Institute and the seminar on the theme of Most Venerable Elder Thich Minh Chau: Mission and Vision took place on October 19 at Minh Dang Quang Monastery (Thu Duc City, Ho Chi Minh City), organized by the Vietnam Buddhist Studies Institute in conjunction with the Vietnam Buddhist Academy in Ho Chi Minh City. Accordingly, Most Venerable Thich Tri Quang emphasized that printing the Vietnamese Tripitaka is a deep aspiration of all monks and nuns from the past to the present. When the VBS was established, the Council of Patriarchs and the Board of Trustees immediately thought of establishing the Vietnam Buddhist Studies Institute and publishing the Vietnamese Tripitaka. According to him, over the past 35 years (1989 - 2024), the Institute has done some encouraging things. These achievements are thanks to the founding director - the late Most Venerable Elder Thich Minh Chau (1918 - 2012). “He was a person who devoted much effort to researching Southern Buddhism, connecting Indian Buddhism and Vietnamese Buddhism. His works greatly contributed to Vietnamese Buddhism; helping us monks, nuns, and Buddhists have a comprehensive view from Mahayana Buddhism to Theravada Buddhism. This is a great merit that he has done and left for us today,” said Venerable Thich Tri Quang. 'Đường Tăng của Việt Nam' là ai?

The Supreme Patriarch called for a harmonious combination of Mahayana and Theravada Buddhism for sustainable development. He expressed his hope that the leaders of the Vietnam Buddhist Research Institute will continue to cooperate with researchers to consolidate and develop the Sangha. He said that the foundation of Vietnamese Buddhism is Mahayana Buddhism, taking building the country, developing the nation, and practicing religion for the benefit of life as the highest ideal. Thanks to that spirit, our ancestors have devoted themselves to the traditional path of protecting the country and bringing peace to the people, making the world admire them. Most Venerable Thich Tri Quang also emphasized that practitioners who devote themselves to life without losing the ideal of liberation and enlightenment do so because they do not stray from Theravada Buddhism - the fundamental teachings of the Buddha. Most Venerable Thich Giac Toan - Director of the Vietnam Buddhist Research Institute said that the Institute was established to meet the needs of Buddhist research for monks, nuns, and Buddhists in the country and abroad. According to him, Venerable Thich Minh Chau has laid a solid foundation for the Institute with its translation and research projects on Buddhist scriptures. “Under the leadership of the Institute’s directors over the years, the Institute has expanded its scale and established many specialized research centers. Among them, the Vietnamese Tripitaka project has achieved many successes, contributing to creating a valuable Buddhist cultural heritage,” said Venerable Giac Toan. 'Đường Tăng của Việt Nam' là ai?
