Among approximately 1.5 million letters sent to the organizing committee, Minh Chau is the only contestant in the Mekong Delta to win a prize in this year's contest. The contest is organized by the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Education and Training, the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union , the Vietnam Writers' Association, the Vietnam Post Corporation, and the Tien Phong and Nhi Dong Newspapers.
This year, the contest theme is: “Imagine you are the ocean. Write a letter to someone explaining why and how they should take good care of you.” The contest theme is linked to the goal of “Conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources” in the 17 sustainable development goals of the United Nations. The contest letter is a creative product of the individual student, written in prose form according to the theme of the contest (not yet published in newspapers or books), no longer than 800 words. In the creative imaginary letter, Minh Chau transformed into the ocean and urgently wrote a letter to stop the angry god Poseidon from creating a great flood, with the belief that humans still have conscience and will awaken and act to restore and protect the ocean. Minh Chau shared that she was very surprised and moved to receive this noble award. This is the third consecutive year that the Pedagogical Practice High School has had students win national prizes in the UPU Letter Writing Competition.
