Attending the conference were officials from the Provincial Center for Disease Control; medical centers of districts, towns and cities; general and specialized hospitals at the provincial and district levels.

At the conference, staff from Hai Phong University of Medicine and Pharmacy introduced and guided the following contents: tasks of surveying and assessing the current status of greenhouse gas emissions in the health sector and making a list of health facilities that must inventory greenhouse gases; toolkit for surveying emissions in the health sector; instructions for entering data and practicing calculating greenhouse gas emissions at the facility.

Greenhouse gas emissions from the health sector account for 4.4 - 4.6% of global carbon emissions. Health is the sector that contributes the most to greenhouse gas emissions directly through waste, wastewater and indirectly through electricity use, the production chain of goods and services from the health system.

In the context of climate change becoming one of the most serious global challenges to human health, conducting a survey of greenhouse gas emissions in the health sector is of particular importance and urgency. Surveying greenhouse gas emissions in the health sector not only serves the internal management goals of health facilities but also contributes to the implementation of national commitments to reduce emissions and adapt to climate change. Through accurate survey data, the health sector can identify key emission areas, thereby proposing intervention solutions.
