The 2024-25 Europa League has officially determined the two semi-final pairs after the second leg of the quarter-finals ended on the morning of April 18.
The four teams participating in this round include Manchester United, Tottenham, Athletic Bilbao and Bodoe/Glimt.
Manchester United beat Lyon 5-4 in a dramatic 120-minute match at Old Trafford, to win 7-6 on aggregate over two legs.
In the second leg, MU had a big advantage when leading 2-0 in the first 45 minutes thanks to goals from Manuel Ugarte and Diogo Dalot.
But in the second half, Lyon played explosively to score two consecutive goals from Corentin Tolisso and Nicolás Tagliafico, equalizing 2-2, forcing the opponent to enter extra time when the score after two matches was 4-4.
In extra time, Lyon, despite having to play with one less player due to Corentin Tolisso in the 89th minute, surprisingly took the lead with two goals from Cherki and Lacazette.
However, the Red Devils did something crazy when they scored 3 goals in just 7 minutes at the end of the second extra time to win 5-4, thereby eliminating their opponents with a total score of 7-6.
Bruno Fernandes, Harry Maguire and Kobbie Mainoo took turns scoring to bring victory to Manchester United.
Going straight to the semi-finals, coach Rúben Amorim's team will face Athletic Bilbao - the team that eliminated Rangers with a 2-0 aggregate victory.
The other Europa League semi-final will be between Tottenham and Bodoe/Glimt.
Tottenham beat Eintracht Frankfurt 1-0 away to eliminate their opponents 2-1 on aggregate. Meanwhile, Bodoe/Glimt made Lazio taste the bitter fruit in the unfortunate penalty shootout.
According to the schedule, the first leg of the Europa League semi-finals will take place on May 1, and the second leg will take place a week later./.
