After many years of silence in the electric car field, Suzuki has entered the acceleration phase with the completion of the global production line of the eVitara electric SUV model.

This model is currently being assembled at the Gurajat plant (India) with an expected output of 70,000 vehicles per year, mostly for export. Suzuki eVitara is considered a commercial version of the eVX concept model that was launched in 2023.

Although it reuses the “Vitara” name of Suzuki’s famous SUV line in the past, the eVitara does not share the platform or design with the Grand Vitara (launched in 2022) or the old generation Vitara (on sale since 2014). Instead, this electric SUV is developed on the Heartect-e platform specifically for pure electric vehicles.

The exterior design of the eVitara closely follows the concept with a modern, futuristic language but still retains the characteristic strength of an urban SUV. The car has an overall length of 4,275 mm, a wheelbase of 2,700 mm, equivalent to B-segment competitors such as the Toyota Corolla Cross or Hyundai Creta.

Inside the cockpit, the Suzuki eVitara continues to demonstrate its innovative spirit by equipping the dashboard with a seamless dual screen, instead of the separate interface commonly found on current Suzuki models. This layout not only increases aesthetics but also brings a high-tech experience to the driver.

The interior is arranged with 2 standard rows of seats, focusing on spaciousness and comfort for passengers. The materials and design details promise to be much different from the same brand's internal combustion engine SUVs.

The Suzuki eVitara will have a total of three different powertrain configurations, meeting the diverse needs of users. In the standard version, the car is equipped with a single motor with two power levels of 144 horsepower or 174 horsepower and 190 Nm of torque.

Meanwhile, the high-end version uses a 2-wheel drive system with a dual motor with a capacity of 184 horsepower and 300 Nm of torque. Depending on the version, the car will be equipped with a 49 kWh or 61 kWh battery pack, in which the large battery version is only for the 4-wheel drive configuration.

According to the initial announcement, the Suzuki eVitara's operating range ranges from 420 to 500 km, a respectable number in the popular electric SUV segment. Suzuki has now completed the eVitara copyright registration in the Indian market and is promoting similar procedures in many other countries.

It is worth noting that the Netherlands has started implementing early user experience programs, allowing potential customers to directly interact with the product before the official launch. From next June, similar activities are expected to be expanded to Japan and some European countries, demonstrating Suzuki's clear global orientation with the new electric SUV.

With the Gurajat plant as the main production hub, Suzuki expects to export the majority of eVitaras to international markets, including its home country of Japan, where electric vehicles are still not widely available.

In the Vietnamese market, the name Suzuki Vitara left a strong impression in the 1990s and early 2000s, especially with the fully imported 5-door Vitara version.

Unfortunately, this car line has been absent for nearly two decades, after being unable to compete in price and equipment with other Korean and Japanese rivals. Currently, Suzuki Vietnam has not had any official confirmation about the distribution of eVitara in the future.

However, some sources said that the company is considering the possibility of bringing both the new Grand Vitara and eVitara to the country to expand its product portfolio, in the context of rapidly increasing demand for urban SUVs and electric vehicles.
