Tej Constant's family, including his wife and two young children, flew from England to Kuala Lumpur to combine tourism and watch the friendly match between MU and the ASEAN All-Stars team. However, what his young son was looking forward to the most did not come true.
In the crowd of fans surrounding the hotel where the team stopped, a boy with a MU shirt waited for Garnacho to sign an autograph. But due to the large number of people and limited time, the young Argentine player could not stop to sign for everyone.
The boy burst into tears of disappointment with sad eyes and small hands wiping away tears, reminding many people of the purest emotions of childhood love for football.
The match between MU and ASEAN All Stars within the framework of the Maybank Challenge Cup will take place at 8:45 p.m. on May 28 at Bukit Jalil National Stadium.
Although they no longer dominate the Premier League as before, MU still has a large fan base in Southeast Asia. The friendly match between ASEAN All-Stars and MU is part of a charity fundraising campaign, and also aims to honor outstanding players in Southeast Asian football.
With the presence of international media, tens of thousands of visitors and interest from across Asia, the Maybank Challenge Cup 2025 promises to be a pinnacle match and a big boost for sports tourism as well as Malaysia's international position on the global sports map.
