On May 18, Ford announced a recall of 422,000 SUVs in the US due to a video output error that prevents rear camera images from being displayed, reducing the driver's visibility and increasing the risk of accidents.
The recall involves 2020-2023 Ford Explorer, Lincoln Aviator, and 2020-2022 Lincoln Corsair SUVs equipped with 360-degree cameras.
This recall expands and replaces previous Ford recalls in 2021 and 2023 for the same issue.
The specific cause lies in the software of the image processing module (IPMB), which causes the video output to fail at some point.
This error only occurs with vehicles with a 360-degree camera system while vehicles equipped with only a rear camera are not affected.
In 2022, Ford also updated the image processing module software to address this issue.
The recalled vehicles will have their image processing module software updated free of charge at the dealership./.
