Nearly 18,000 athletes participate in the Techcombank Ho Chi Minh City International Marathon 2024

(CPV) - After 7 years of development, the Ho Chi Minh City International Marathon has become an annual event, affirming its brand as a typical sports tourism product of the City.

The tournament kicked off on the morning of December 6.

On December 6, the 7th Techcombank Ho Chi Minh City International Marathon - the City's iconic race officially opened at The Global City.

The 7th Techcombank Ho Chi Minh City International Marathon – the City’s iconic race officially opened with many exciting activities, promising to bring a colorful journey of discovery . In particular, on the official competition day of December 8, nearly 18,000 domestic and international athletes from 64 countries and territories will compete on the route through 17 historical sites, continuing to spread the spirit of “Running for a superior Vietnam”.

This 7th season is an important highlight event in the series of activities of Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Week. This is not only a regional-level running competition but also brings athletes and domestic and foreign tourists a journey to discover the beauty of a young urban area, a place of cultural diversity, known as the "Pearl of the Far East".

This year’s marathon continues with exciting competition categories: Marathon (42.195 km), Half Marathon (21.1 km), 10 km, 5 km and KIDS RUN (sponsored by ILA). The diversity of the categories and the record number of participants reflect the growing interest in running, from professional athletes to amateurs and families encouraging their members to lead a healthy lifestyle from a young age.

The new feature of the 7th Techcombank Ho Chi Minh City International Marathon this year is the Marathon Village held at The Global City, creating a difference from previous years when the Village and Finish area were separated. This is a new experience that the Organizing Committee wants to bring to the athletes.

In addition, the Department of Tourism, in coordination with relevant units, has applied advanced NFC technology to bring unique digital interactive experiences. This technology not only supports the confirmation of the presence of athletes but also helps create and preserve memorable moments at the event. At the same time, the Department of Tourism has arranged check-in stations at the Marathon Village, creating more convenience for athletes and contributing to enhancing the experience of participating in this year's race.
