(QBĐT) - On May 4, Mr. Ho Khac Minh, Head of the Department of Cultivation and Plant Protection, said that due to the impact of heavy rain and wind, more than 2,765 hectares of winter-spring rice in the province were knocked down.

The area of rice that has fallen is concentrated in Quang Ninh, Le Thuy and Bo Trach districts. Specifically, Le Thuy district has more than 1,565 hectares, Quang Ninh 350 hectares, Bo Trach 850 hectares. Minh Hoa and Tuyen Hoa districts are less affected by light rain; Dong Hoi city, Ba Don town and Quang Trach district have almost finished harvesting.
Because most of the fallen rice area is ripe, it has little effect on productivity and output, however, this situation will cause difficulties and increase harvesting costs for farmers.
According to forecasts, the weather in the coming time will continue to be complicated with extreme phenomena such as thunderstorms, tornadoes, strong winds... which may continue to affect the unharvested rice area.

To limit damage caused by natural disasters, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has directed localities to guide people to overcome the collapsed areas by draining water in the fields, erecting trees, and bunching rice into clusters.
Particularly for areas of fallen rice that are ripe, mobilize human resources and machinery to support people in speeding up the harvest to ensure productivity.
It is known that in the 2023-2024 winter-spring crop, the whole province planted more than 29,217 hectares of rice. Up to now, the whole province has harvested nearly 16,000 hectares; specifically, Dong Hoi City 570/837 hectares, Ba Don Town 2,561/2,601 hectares, Quang Trach 3,418/3,418 hectares, Quang Ninh 4,090/5,172 hectares, Le Thuy 2,500 hectares, Tuyen Hoa 450/1,439 hectares, ...
