Nearly 200 wrestlers participate in the Mac Dynasty National Wrestling Festival

This is the information announced by the Vietnam Wrestling Federation and the Hai Phong Mac Clan Council at a press conference on the afternoon of January 20.

Accordingly, the traditional wrestling competition of the Mac Dynasty and the Mac Dynasty Countryside Market Festival will take place on the occasion of the new spring of Giap Thin 2024 at the national cultural relic site of the Mac Co Trai family temple (Dai Thang village, Ngu Doan commune, Kien Thuy district, Hai Phong).

The competition has 15 to 20 delegations from across the country; 150 to 200 wrestlers participating in 10 weight classes for both men and women, competing for 30 prizes with a prize value of over 300 million VND.

Along with the traditional wrestling competition, the Organizing Committee will organize Spring Market programs, Ao Dai Festival...

In particular, Duong Kinh spring market will be held from February 15 to February 26 (ie January 6 to 16 of the year of Giap Thin). The spring market has about 30 stalls, mainly traditional food stalls, regional specialties serving tourists, locals, people visiting the relic and watching wrestling...

According to the Organizing Committee, after two years of organizing the Traditional Wrestling Competition of the Mac Dynasty (Year of the Tiger 2022 and Year of the Cat 2023), it is affirmed that the unique folk festival initiated and taught by Emperor Mac Dang Dung 5 centuries ago has been a great success, gradually forming a truly unique and attractive cultural, tourism , historical and spiritual product, attracting people and tourists from all over the city, outside the city and internationally.

Emperor Mac Dang Dung, the founder of the Mac Dynasty, was a strong man and martial artist. He founded the Mac Dynasty. One day, during the spring, when the Co Trai wrestling festival was taking place in a jubilant atmosphere, Emperor Mac Dang Dung came to visit and taught the art of wrestling, hoping that the national wrestling in his homeland would be passed down forever.

That martial arts tradition entered social life as a characteristic of the national culture of the Mac Dynasty, and was widely circulated and spread as an indispensable spiritual food in the lives of the people and the social community.
