Accordingly, due to the impact of fog and bad weather at Noi Bai (Hanoi), Tho Xuan (Thanh Hoa), Vinh (Nghe An), and Phu Bai (Hue) airports, to ensure operational safety, Vietnam Airlines had to adjust departure times, delaying flights to and from these airports in the early morning and morning of February 2nd by 2 to 6 hours.

Specifically, the affected flights include 8 flights from Ho Chi Minh City to Vinh with flight numbers VN7000, VN7004, VN7006, VN7008, VN7012, VN7014, VN7016 and VN7264. Flight VN7278 from Ho Chi Minh City to Thanh Hoa and VN7540 from Ho Chi Minh City to Hue also experienced delays in departure time.

At Noi Bai Airport, many domestic and international flights had to circle in the air or land at alternate airports in Hai Phong or Da Nang , waiting for better weather conditions. Flights departing from Noi Bai also had to delay their departure times to ensure safety. In total, nearly 30 other domestic and international flights were affected as a result, with their schedules changed.

Hanoi's Old Quarter is shrouded in fog, making it impossible for locals to see each other's faces.

Earlier, on the night and early morning of February 1st, due to the dense fog at Tho Xuan and Vinh airports, four flights from Ho Chi Minh City to these airports were also delayed by 1 to nearly 5 hours.

"Vietnam Airlines deeply regrets having to change flight schedules due to weather conditions to ensure absolute safety and hopes for passengers' understanding in this situation. Rain and fog may occur at airports in the North and Central regions in the next few days. Passengers needing to travel to or from provinces and cities in the North during this period should regularly monitor and update information on schedules and weather conditions," - a representative of Vietnam Airlines advised passengers.

According to meteorological experts, fog is a characteristic phenomenon in Hanoi and the northern provinces during winter, reducing visibility and affecting traffic. In addition, fog can cause the accumulation of dust and harmful substances, increasing air pollution. Inhaling this can lead to serious respiratory and musculoskeletal diseases. People going out in the early morning when fog is thick should wear masks to avoid inhaling fine dust particles.

Dense fog in Hanoi disrupts dozens of flights.
