Meeting and congratulating students who won international regional Olympic prizes in the 2024

On June 6, at Ha Long High School for the Gifted, the Departmentof Education and Training of Quang Ninh organized a meeting to congratulate two students of the school who won prizes at international regional Olympic competitions in the 2024-2025 school year.

On the evening of June 5, representatives of the Department of Education and Training, Ha Long High School for the Gifted and his family welcomed Trinh Viet Hoang (8th from left) back from the international arena.

Speaking at the meeting, teacher Nguyen Thi Thuy, Director of the Department of Education and Training of Quang Ninh acknowledged and congratulated Ninh Quang Thang, class 12, specializing in Information Technology, for winning the Bronze Medal at the 2025 Asia- Pacific Informatics Olympiad (APIO), continuing to be one of the representatives of Vietnam to participate in the International Informatics Olympiad in Bolivia at the end of July; congratulated Trinh Viet Hoang, class 12, specializing in Chemistry, for winning the Silver Medal at the 2025 Abu Rayhan-Biruni International Chemistry Olympiad; and praised the teachers of the team and Ha Long High School for the Gifted for their efforts in discovering and nurturing excellent students for the province.

The Director of the Department of Education and Training affirmed that the achievements of Ninh Quang Thang and Trinh Viet Hoang are not only the pride of the students, their families and the school, but also a vivid proof of the continuous efforts of Quang Ninh province in building a high-quality education system.

Over the years, Quang Ninh province has always paid special attention to education, including spearhead education with Ha Long High School for the Gifted as the focus. Every year, the budget for education and training accounts for about 20% of the province's total budget.

Up to now, Quang Ninh has firmly maintained the standard of universal preschool education for 5-year-old children; maintained the standard of universal primary education level 3; maintained the standard of illiteracy eradication level 2 and is one of the first 10 provinces and cities in the country to achieve the standard of universal lower secondary education level 3. Notably, the results of the 2024 high school graduation exam of the province have increased by 25 places compared to the first year of the term; the number of students winning the national excellent high school student award in 2025 ranked 8th out of the top 10 provinces and cities in the country, surpassing many provinces and cities with long-standing traditions of learning in the country. Notably, this is the 3rd time in history (after 1998, 2016) that Quang Ninh education has had students honored at the International Olympic Competition.
