Traditional meeting of veterans of Regiment 755 in Quang Tri

Today, May 12, in Dong Ha City, more than 500 veterans of Regiment 755 in Quang Tri attended a traditional meeting and celebrated the 45th anniversary of the regiment's departure to fight to protect the northern border on May 12 (1979 - 2024).

Regiment 755 was established on February 28, 1979 in Hue City, under the Military Command of Binh-Tri-Thien Province. The core of Regiment 755 is officers and soldiers of agencies and units under the Military Command of Binh-Tri-Thien Province and nearly 3,000 new recruits mobilized from localities, departments, branches, companies, provincial agencies along with students of Hue Pedagogical College.

On May 12, 1979, the Party Committee, government, and people of Binh - Tri - Thien province, along with Regiment 755, organized a ceremony to send troops to the border with the army and people of 6 northern border provinces to fight to protect the Fatherland. In 1981, due to the requirements of the battlefield and the situation at the northern border, Regiment 755 was transferred to economic tasks.

In February 1984, the regiment successfully completed all tasks of building and protecting the Fatherland at the front line of Lang Son province's border, was highly appreciated by the Party, the State and the Ministry of National Defense and allowed to end the mission.

After transferring to another branch or returning to their old agency, the war veterans of Regiment 755 have promoted the qualities of "Uncle Ho's soldiers", actively built their agencies and localities to be increasingly innovative and developed, and always set an example in propagating and mobilizing people to well implement the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws, and patriotic emulation movements in the locality.

At the meeting, the veterans of Regiment 755 together recalled the unforgettable memories of the heroic years of fighting to build and protect the Fatherland at the northern border frontline; at the same time, encouraged each other to continue to live exemplary lives and, through their own example, educate their children and grandchildren to build a civilized lifestyle, a cultured family, and set a good example for the younger generation to follow.
