GCCH supports people with disabilities in Quang Tri to live independently and integrate into society

The People's Committee of Quang Tri province has just issued Decision No. 2884/QD-UBND dated November 29, 2024 approving the project "People with disabilities in Quang Tri are supported to live independently and integrate into society" sponsored by Green Cross Switzerland (GCCH) with more than 5.6 billion VND through the Institute for Community Development Studies (ACDC).

With a total non-refundable aid capital of more than 5.6 billion VND , equivalent to 233,034 USD, the project will be implemented until the end of December 2027 with the aim of improving physical health through rehabilitation activities and enhancing the ability to live independently and integrate into society for people with disabilities (PWDs) in 3 districts: Gio Linh, Vinh Linh and Trieu Phong (Quang Tri province).

The project aims at a series of main activities including: training to improve capacity for medical staff and staff of the Association of People with Disabilities on orthopedic and rehabilitation devices; People with disabilities are provided with orthopedic devices and prosthetic limbs; Organizing screening examinations, assessing functions, and determining rehabilitation needs for people with disabilities.

In addition, there are activities: rehabilitation intervention for PWDs, providing assistive devices for PWDs. In addition, project participants are also trained in knowledge and skills to identify symptoms of psychological disorders (mental health disorders) for officials at all levels; Assessment of psychological disorders (mental health disorders) of PWDs and their families; Group activities for PWDs and their families with mental disorders.

The project sponsored by GCCH will provide people with disabilities in Gio Linh, Vinh Linh and Trieu Phong districts with support to live independently and integrate into society, providing them with knowledge and skills on independent living, barriers, policies for people with disabilities, how to manage personal finances, renovate accessible houses... for both people with disabilities and their families.
