World silver prices fell sharply due to profit-taking activities

On the morning of October 24, the world silver spot price in the Asian market opened at 48.93 USD/ounce, up 0.44 USD/ounce (equivalent to 0.91%) compared to the previous session.

However, at 9:16 a.m. (Hanoi time), the world silver price dropped to 48.50 USD/ounce, losing 0.37 USD/ounce in just a few hours of trading.

The erratic movements of world silver prices reflect the cautious sentiment of investors in the context of the precious metal market entering a sensitive phase, affected by both supply and demand factors and the global economic situation.

Investors should prepare for more volatility as global silver prices are being affected by a severe supply shortage, according to Robert Minter, Director of ETF Investment Strategy.

The silver market has been in deficit for four consecutive years due to strong industrial demand, while global silver inventories have fallen sharply. Since 2016, silver mine production has fallen 8.8%, while demand has continued to rise, especially in the renewable energy and high-tech equipment manufacturing industries.

It is the imbalance between supply and demand that causes world silver prices to fluctuate strongly, becoming the focus of attention of investment funds and precious metal traders.

Experts agree that the world silver price reflects a serious imbalance between limited supply and high demand. In the short term, the market may fluctuate, but in the long term, the upward trend of silver is difficult to reverse.
