
At the end of the trading session, the price of robusta coffee futures contract for November 2025 delivery on the London floor decreased by 110 USD/ton (-2.37%) to 4,521 USD/ton, while the futures contract for January 2026 delivery decreased by 125 USD/ton (-2.69%) to 4,506 USD/ton.
On the New York Stock Exchange, the price of Arabica coffee futures for December 2025 delivery fell 6.5 US cents/pound (-1.59%) compared to the previous session, to 400 US cents/pound. The contract for March 2026 delivery fell 7.2 cents/pound (-1.9 % ) to 369.45 US cents/pound.
Arabica coffee prices fell to a seven-week low after President Donald Trump signed an executive order Thursday evening waiving tariffs on food products from Brazil, including a 40% tariff on Brazilian coffee.
Coffee's decline accelerated after the Brazilian real fell to a five-week low against the dollar, giving Brazilian producers an incentive to boost exports.
Coffee prices were previously pressured by the prospect of rain in Brazil, which could support coffee crop growth and put downward pressure on prices. Climatempo forecasts heavy rains in Brazil's coffee growing regions to continue into next week.
Meanwhile, robusta continued to receive support due to weather concerns in Vietnam. Heavy rains have slowed the harvest in Dak Lak province, Vietnam’s largest coffee growing region, while further rains are forecast to damage the crop.
Declining coffee inventories on ICE also contributed to supporting prices.
The US import tariffs on Brazilian coffee have caused a sharp decline in ICE inventories: ICE-monitored arabica stocks fell to a 1.75-year low of 398,645 bags on Thursday; robusta stocks fell to a four-month low of 5,567 lots on Friday.
US importers are cancelling new contracts with Brazil due to tariffs, tightening supply in the US, as about a third of US green coffee comes from Brazil. US purchases of Brazilian coffee in August-October 2025, when Mr Trump’s tariffs took effect, fell 52% year-on-year to 983,970 bags.
